I've been working up a schematic for a double-tracking ish analog circuit. Electric Druid has a circuit emulating the EHX Slapback and calculations for setting the delay time of the PT2399 via resistors, and using those equations, I added a rotary to switch between resistors for short delay times. I also incorporated the pin 6 hack to prevent the PT2399 from locking up on start, as well as some modulation on the signal. After the delay is generated, but before the signals are mixed back together, I inserted a distortion or fuzz just to muck with the 2nd guitar line. Haven't had a chance to breadboard it or test it though, so no idea if it would work, but I want to get back to it at some point.

I solved this problem for myself with this design. Sounds like @D.M.N. is following a similar line of development.

I have extra PCBs, if you want one. There's also a vero layout and Storyboardist did a perf layout.

D.M.N - I did see that one, I actually bought Electric Druid Stompflo and Tapflo chips and trying different chips to get me slow delay times. I have a MN3007 circuit with 4047 and 8 way switch to switch between different cap sizes, PT2396 chip circuit working just trying to figure out a way to add modulation, and a ES56028 circuit built but not working yet.

Temol- I did make that project and uploaded a vero layout I created for the project. It was nice but something missing for me.

Aleph - that is nice just trying to get slower delays than the PT2399 will allow. Only down to 30ms for that chip.

The short answer is it's an envelope detector connected to the delay time.

The long answer is that the CCO voltage on pin 8 of the PT2399 is inversely proportional to the input volume. This can be used to apply voltage to the base of a BJT. Pin 6 is connected at the collector and the emmiter is connected to ground. When the voltage at the base is high (when the signal is quiet), current flows from pin 6 to ground. When the voltage at the base drops (signal is loud), the current flow from pin 6 is reduced (the BJT is working like a resistor), increasing the delay time and dropping the pitch of the delay signal.

The envelope pitch bending is a way to get quasi random pitch fluctuations without needing some convoluted LFO or a microcontroller.

A month or so ago I was playing with my own Slap-Back delay ideas, some based on a VFE delay;
re-jiggered some things on Electric Druid's EHX-Alike that I didn't like;
and then a friend shot my ideas down, without understanding the constraints/limitations of the PT2399.

No matter, my ideas are sound.

Nonetheless, my foray into this area is bambino-esque compared to the other posters in the thread.

More advanced pedals with extensive processing, USB support, or firmware updates may use platforms like the Daisy Seed or another ARM-based processor. Sharing the pedal's name, internal photos, or PCB markings would make it much easier to determine what's inside. I'd be interested to see what others have discovered about this pedal as well.
