Very inspired by this site and others. Been playing guitar a long time and now finally gonna try building my own stuff. My tools just came in today, what did i miss?

That's a bag of old dentist tools, very handy. Waitin on PCBs for Greengage and Tyrian distortion, they shipped today and I'm stoked! And waiting on parts from Tayda. One thing not in picture is a multimeter but I have access to one.

Other than that I have a normal garage full of tools, socket wrenches, etc, etc.

I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions, but I've done my share of pickup swaps, so I'm ok with soldering. Ive already been watchin tons of vids, and reading the Basic Workflow thread here is great. Any tips comments suggestions are welcome. Glad to be here!

Digital multimeter. Stepped drill bits. Flux. IPA. Circuit board holder. Magnifying visor.

You probably have wire cutters, wires strippers, needle-nose pliers and the like in your garage.

Welcome to the forums. If you haven't already, spend some time reading this and perusing the Build Reports to see how it looks when things go well and the Troubleshooting forum to see how we deal with shit that goes sideways.

Welcome! :D

You'll probably want some diagonal cutters and wire strippers (suited for AWG 24). Get a toothbrush and some isopropyl alcohol (if you can find any) for cleaning as well.

If you plan to drill your own enclosures you might want a stepped bit and a 1/8" pilot bit.

Others will chime in with their experience, aside from that you'll slowly accrue what you need as you go along.

I wish someone had told me when I started to buy some nice angled flush cutters with a retaining clip. So that’s what I’ll tell you! Welcome!

I was gonna ask about flux... forgot to buy it, but is it necessary if I'm ok at soldering and clean the board and have the kester rosin solder?

Sorry, whats IPA?

The other things i have access to or will get, like the multimeter, i have tons od tools, and I'm doing predrilled painted enclosure from Tayda, much easier for now atleast.

EDIT: I found IPA meant isopropyl alcohol, not beer. I'll get that 99% and follow you're cleaning advice that I saw.

Noted and thank you for the service, this place is awesome. I ordered the Predrilled, powdercoat enclsosures from Tayda, easier for now and they look awesome.

Thank you, ill have to search the garage but I'm sure i got something real close to that, if not I'll definitely get them, i know decent/correct tools make a difference in life.

i just built a greengage and tyrian and can confirm great pedals (y) but also the aggression modes on the g3 seem to be a pre boost so dont slam it with the greengage or it will start to fuzz out but can still use it before for tone shaping in the normal mode

Ahh, thanks for the heads up, you see my thinking on the pedal choice. I was wondering about this, and thought i saw something here, maybe it was your posts? But thank you that was the idea, ill just be tame with the levels. And the greengage will be fine just alone too for my low gain needs. I read though about subbing the volume pot for a A50K i think instead of a B100K, whats ur opinion?

EDIT: i should clarify, im refering to the greengage volume pot, like it gives it more controllable volume?

I haven't posted about it, and I haven't tried any mods (just built it last week) so I can't really comment on that.
But yeah true, plumes for low gain, g3 for the chugs

I only use flux when soldering SMD components or when I have a really tough desoldering job (pin headers).

It's a good thing to have when you need it, but I went for 20 years without ever having any.

I recently switched from plain rosin flux to a clear "no-clean" type, and ironically I feel more inclined to clean the no-clean. When it dries it leaves behind a crystal residue that makes solder joints look corroded and nasty.
