New Lollar design: DC-90

Lindy Fralin has been doing much the same thing for years.

Did you know that the P-Bass pickup is noise cancelling? Leo apparently didn't advertise that fact because he thought it infringed on someones patent. And it's the same principle that is behind this pickup.
The P-Bass indeed is noise cancelling. I have 2 P-basses. :)
I've created my own dummy coil backplate for a Duncan P90 which worked out pretty well, just need to work out how much ohm is required.

If you check the output of the DC-90 I think that Jason used thinner wire like most higher output pickup manufacturers like BKP do.
I might try one out to see how I like it. Price is a bit on the steep side IMO.

Ouch! Perhaps for Christmas...

Yeah.... I have his low wind P-90s in my Collings 290 (they were what came in it), and I'm having a Hollowbody Baritone built that is either going to use his Johnny Smith or a pair of the gold foils. Jason probably charges average for his peer group of PU builders—I'm not saying they (the top tier builders: Lollar, Frail, Allen, Klein, etc.) are the best, but they are close (if not the best), and have enough time spent selling them that they have wide reputations. Then, there are exceptions, like Wylde, (Bill Lawrence—now his wife and daughter do everything), who, if you want the type of pickup that they are (sound wise—very hi-fi, extended his and lows, more tightly focussed magnetic fields, so less noise, etc—they hand wind to order, ship in a few days, and charge about half that. Both Lindy and Jason have credited Bill with teaching them much of what they knew when they started their companies, and I'm sure they're still using the wires that Bill designed and had the wire manufacturers make specifically for pickup use; that was either during his time at Gibson or Fender.

I play very low gain, (90% of the time), so noise is not that big an issue; I think if I was recoding, I'd look more seriously at these—Although I'm afraid to change anything in that 290, it just has such a perfect "junior" tone to it, and the body is so alive that if I play clean, with no effects running, there's almost a bit of reverb happening (This takes me by surprise, since I typically play with some sort of mod blended in at a low (or not so low) level, which is enough to obscure the resonance sounds.)

I have a 78 Deluxe American tele with swamp ash body and lollar vintage PU's. Pure freaking gold! He definitely knows his $#!+

I also have a Agile 3010SE (LP) in root beer finish that plays better and has better finish than my real Gibson LP studio. But I never liked the P90's it came with. They're "ok".

This year has had a plethora of sudden large expenses, like $1250 for a new water heater (switched to on demand and saved 54% off my gas bill). That was just for the parts! And a few other broken expensive things too numerous to list.

I can only take $11,000 out of my 401k a year or I'll have to pay taxes. I'm up to $7750, so if NO OTHER sudden expenses come up I can pull a few thousand more out for Christmas, and property taxes AND some DC90's!!!....

And now we all wait for a @MichaelW installation log and demo.

Speaking on P90s, I made a thread here a while back looking for P90 suggestions, of which I received a ton of great options including some I had never heard of, that looked very appealing. I have a PRS SE Custom 24 08 that I absolutely adore and it is such a fun guitar to play. The only problem, to my ears, is that the pickups a very majorly no bueno, to my ears.......waaay too farty.

Well, I went with the ultra "lame" basic choice and got some SD Phat Cats. Used a .015uf cap. Those pickups saved that guitar from Reverb.

Definitely keeping my eye on these Lollars, since I have a Telecaster that could use some P90 love.
