NGD...yet again

The world of pedals has been slow and pretty boring as of late. While a couple months ago I sold some really big items and brought home a few new guitars, I continued selling things including some I didn't think I would. But here we are and I think I'm finally in a place where I'm fully content and happy with every piece I have.

First was about a month ago I went into a local shop and was looking for an acoustic. While I had a nice one, it was one that I loved but was not in love with. I always regretted selling my old J45 to fund an amp I no longer had either. After playing numerous acoustics and selling some gear I brought this home with me. This is my favorite acoustic sound, the one that jumps out at me and is instantly recognizable the second I hear it on records. After a quick setup it plays so nice and sounds amazing. Every time I walk past it I have to play it and that is worth every penny.

I sold the last of my stuff a week ago and I asked myself, what should I get?...P90s. I knew what I wanted right away and went to the store and ordered one since no one locally had one. This things is super light and resonant and is truly like a tele on steroids. Instant Dean Deleo. This is a rock n roll machine. Can't wait to record some tracks with it.

Consolidating meh stuff into the dream gear is the best feeling. That LP is tight. P90s make my tenders tingle, but seeing the lean on the wall is making my starfish pucker😬.
This is the way. I'd rather have a smaller collection of instruments that really inspire and play/sound amazing than a bunch of meh. And the guitars were never in danger of falling 😂
But really let’s talk ab that fucking awesome Sally meets Christmas Story leg lamp.
My wife is a woman of many artistic talents. Painting, sewing, sculpting and crafting of all sorts. She made the lamp out of an on old lamp shade and everything else used is either scraps or up cycled goods from around the house. You may have missed it but I showed it last Christmas when she made it.

Dude!! We were just chatting about my Larrivee but this J trumps it!! I really love the sound of a J, especially when you really hammer it. It's one of the things I like about my Larrivee is that when your really lean into it the guitar will compress like the top is on coil springs. A cool recorded example of the effect is the acoustic solo on Joe Walsh's Happy Ways.

And anything with P90's rules but that's a beauty. Kinda funny that Gibson nailed it way back then. I got to play a Collings version a while back and wish I hadn't. Was too nice/expensive.

That chat we had about guitars was what really motivated me to take the plunge and go all in with the selling. I have just enough money left over to buy the custom 12" speaker cab for my 73' vibro champ lol. Also, if you're not using IRs with plugged in acoustic pickups you aren't doing it right.

@Guardians of the analog two amazing sounding and beautiful guitars, both perfect adds to the collection.

I've always wanted that TV Yellow P90 Gibson, they sound/look incredible. Put P90's into my PRS SE Custom 24 08 last year and I play that guitar more than any of the other 13, and it's all because of the P90s. Favorite style of pickup, zero competition.

I’ll 2nd that. Bought a PRS SE 277- baritone, p90s, semi-hollow.

Whenever I do “the purge”, that is one of the keepers.

@jcpst interesting, I too have that same baritone. What P90's ya put in it?

Also very interested in the Fralin Steel Pole P90 style pickups. Definitely want to put a set of those in a Strat I build years back.

Gotta try the IR thing, how’s that work? I just sold my Music Man and a very nice Epi double neck goes on the block next.

No pics, no Larrivee.
Just sayin'...

When I was in the bike-industry, I'd cycle past the Larrivee factory in East Van every day on my way to work, and wished I was working at Larrivee (would've been a 5-minute bicycle-commute instead of an hour). Then Larrivee moved operations State-side, which would've been an even longer bicycle-commute...
