Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

That album was made on that recorder, which is why it's on the cover. Not sure if you can read it without a sub, but here's the (very short) interview.

Also, I've been signed up for a few issues now but have never gotten a physical copy. I bought the box set, though, so I can at least access all of the back catalog and podcasts/recorded interviews. It's given me a lot to listen to and read over the past few months.
Oooh. Now I’m gonna go listen to that album again while I think more about reel to reel stuff. I got distracted the first time and didn’t finish it, but it had a cool vibe. I’ve also only been signed up since this summer some time, but a few of these have hit the mailbox.

I went and looked at my subscription - I’m getting print, but I don’t have access to the whole back catalog. That’s pretty sweet.

After a rather sombre evening, I had The Moog Cookbook pop into my head for the first time in genuine years.

Bob's Boogie/Funk

However, this was my first introduction. The intro is magical. In fact I would often just skip back to the beginning when the verse actually starts :ROFLMAO:

And their rendition of Basket Case slaps, too.

I've never heard this before, but I'm really digging it.

I’ve gotta check this album out. I’m not much of a Johnathan Richman fan, but I like the first Modern Lovers record— mainly due to the Talking Heads and The Cars connection

If you ever have the chance to see him live you should take it. I saw him at a dingy dive bar and he played his acoustic standing up without a strap the whole night. He and his drummer also just made up a song off the cuff.

To me he's a bit like Daniel Johnston without the severe mental health issues. He's just tapped into something and he's gotta get it out. He could have ridden the Modern Lovers recognition into rock stardom but he just does his own thing.

Sometimes, I listen to the following, but right now ...

Not Thelonious...

NO! Admiral Ackbar, not a Trappist...

I'm listening to Monk Montgomery

CHECK OUT THE FUZZ in track two!

Was talking about music with one of my co-workers and we somehow got on the topic of Level Plane Records and it brought me back to some of the bands I used to be obsessed with. Pg.99 is a band I hadn’t listened to in a long time but it still holds up. Love this song.

Hell yeah- I've been diving into skramz over the past few months. Goes surprisingly well with late night dog walking.

I'm still so salty that the 2010s screamo revival took their opportunity to rebrand and somehow picked "skramz" (I blame the"real screamo" Facebook group). I hate telling people I used to play in a screamo band but I can't say "skramz" without feeling deep(er) shame.
