Nutty Fuzzy not nutty

My Nutty Fuzz does none of the nuttiness, huge bummer. What did I do wrong?

The expression pedal does anything except add a whining noise when toe down, no psychedelic effect. I'm using a TRS cable.

Your timing chip is wrong- NE555 won't work. I've had success with LM555, LMC555, TLC555, and ICM7555

Have you verified that the LED responds to picking dynamics?

Also, the mix pot is wired what I'd consider backward- you get the full oscillator mix when zeroed out

So I replaced the chip with a TLC555. Red LED responds to picking.......still absolutely nothing.

I've built this pedal twice, thinking the 1st time I didn't do something right, both times it did not work. No idea what I'm doing wrong. The fuzz on this circuit is amazing, so at least I have that. Really want the expression function to work badly though

There's really not a whole lot to get wrong with this circuit, so we can definitely get this up n running
Would a better shot of the bypass wiring, and short video demonstration (focusing on sweeping the Sens, Threshold and Mix pots) be possible?

You'll most likely have to upload it to YouTube first.

Wiring lengths are kinda excessive, but look correct. Resistors looks fine. Which LDR are you using? And, just to be thorough- the backs of the pots under the board are insulated?

9203 LDR, all pots above board have pot condoms. I've built probably 50+ pedals, this is the only one that I've never been able to get work...... twice. Made sure I ordered the exact TRS jack both times. I'm beyond stumped.

I'm assuming it's the same without the expression pedal?

Could we get some clearer photos of the solder side? And, you've said this is the second you've built with the same issue- are any parts reused from the previous attempt?

Yeah, Threshold and Frequency pots both don't do anything, with/without expression pedal connected. All new parts were used for both builds. I'm heading to a concert, so I'll check all component values later tonight, but I know for the 2nd build I double checked everything.

Really appreciate you trying to help. If I can't get this to work, pretty tempted to buy to real Acorn, since I know I would use this circuit a ton. Just would prefer to have built my own since I'm pretty stoked about the enclosure I made for this one.

The resistors all look good. Hard to see some of the caps.

Are you able to run an audio probe coming off of pin 7 of the 555?
