Ppcb forum re-evaluation

Much of reddit reads like 14 year olds to me. It's either people seeking validation or they're stuck in their echo chamber confirmation bias dunning krueger bs. The diy pedal sub is the worst. It's like a running contest how shitty they can make pedals

No I don't live in your hell hole country. The metaphor is the same.
That is one of the few advantages of a federal system: national politics can be going to hell and day-to-day life can be more or less unaffected...if you live in the right state.

“Preserves holographic micro-transients by eliminating signal squish.”

Can anybody unpack the absolute nonsense in that Reddit thread? Or better, do a house visit for that guy? I’m worried about them.

I think you’re on to something:

I hang around in the diypedals reddit a fair bit, there are a few really helpful people there who explain stuff that helps with circuit design. But yeah, I do scroll past a lot of posts that a simple google would have solved. Or the one that annoys me the most, people who ask for help but then never respond to any posts. Or you offer help but it wasn't the solution they wanted to hear and they get annoyed at you.

I get it, they are trolling.
Frankly, it sounds a lot like some sort of a manic episode. Thinking you've figured out some new type of physics that is going to hit it big. It looks exactly the part.

It does take the funniest edge out of it for me, if the writer indeed would really need help and not ridicule. It's possible they're trolling, but... it's not a very good troll IMO if it is, I would assume they would go for something more believable.

In the book Good Omens, Crawley's car radio always changes any played tape into Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. I've observed similar behaviour on this forum where any subject, given a short window, becomes toasty and roasty :p😈.

JumpBull is rather too close to Bull ****.

It looks like that thread was deleted, but this delightful comment was left over for us:

How can a transient be "holographic"? What boundary is it defined by?
What's a "current injection ratio"?
How do you multiply summation with "impedance coupling"?

Are you familiar with the phrase "word salad"? Have you ever spoken to a mental health professional?

On the other side of the coin, I’ve seen some builds of complexity and quality that just blew my mind that I seldom see here.
Agreed. And that's not a knock on anything I see here by any means, but the DIYPedals subreddit was actually how I got into pedalbuilding in general. Matt over at Blind Panic Devices posted something crazy on there a few years back and he and I wound up chatting a bunch about the process of building pedals, designing circuits, etc. I ordered my first kit shortly after that.

There are absolutely a ton of people who know nothing on there, but there are also some pretty incredible builders over there doing some wild stuff.
