I've never bought from stew mac purely because shipping to the UK was practically criminal. They've got some cool stuff though and that's a much better price on that crowning file.
 
I would get their little screwdriver tool kit. I have it and i have used it ever since i started this journey. As many times as I’ve used it, it’s definitely paid for itself. The good thing is there is a lifetime guarantee!

I’d say that’s actually a decent price for a quality screwdriver set. The pedal parts are out of control, though. Wowza.
 
@Laundryroom David I 100% agree. Hardware prices for pedals and such is a little ridiculous. I think those prices are geared towards people who are just starting out and do not know any better. If you look they have quite a bit of “beginners” kits. I’m not going to lie I bought one to start my journey and I couldn’t have been any happier…..except for the soldering iron that came with it, that thing did more damage than good 🤣
 
I've put together a tool cart there a time or two, but have always bailed when it came to shipping! Have they never heard of "if it fits it ships"
 
StewMac is making money coming and going! I’ve gotten cheaper rates using USPS’s own website, never mind the added discounts from PayPal’s ShipStation. “and Handling” must cost a fortune, because it sure as f*** ain’t the shipping!
 
As much as I biotch about StewMac their tools are always top notch and I've never regretted anything I've purchased from them.
Except maybe they're clear nitro. I much prefer the MoHawk nitrocellulose. They seem to flow better and self level better.

Got some great tools and great prices when I had a stewmax membership, not to mention strings.
Every time I needed something small like a handful of spare e strings, or some super glue wick tips, I’d order them without having to worry about shipping costs and they’d be there in a day— two at most.

The offer of a membership doesn’t excuse their gouged (maybe just lazy?) shipping costs though. Especially when they charge a premium for everything in addition to shipping.

They seem like the Mojotone of luthiery- high prices because the UI is easy and the parts are pre-gathered. And that’s okay, it’s a perfectly fine business model! The $22 3PDT pretty much makes my case though.
