SansAmp Classic Battery Snap

I'm looking at this pedal for a friend. It powers up just fine using the DC jack plugged in. But when we try a battery, we get nothing. I tried reflowing the connections for the battery snap but still nothing. Is there something else I should be looking at? Or any advice or tips when it comes to battery snaps in general?

I don't really know how that works, but...

It looks like that power jack is a switching jack right? I'm imagining when it's plugged into DC it breaks the connection for the battery?

IF that's the case, if that spring isn't making good contact, could that be messing you up?

Try continuity checking it

With a jack plugged into the input socket check the ground connection on the actual battery snap has continuity to ground

Check if the first 2 input jack socket connections ground and ring have continuity and check the battery snap power connection has continuity with its dc jack connection

That should help narrow down whether it's the input jack socket, battery snap or poor solder joint

I'm assuming you're using a new battery?
Easy enough to forget it matters and use an old discharged battery....

Not that I've ever done it, of course!

What Mcknib said.

My first thought was that you might have forgot to plug an instrument jack into the input when trying it with the battery. The way it's wired it will power up without an input with the DC plug, but not with battery.

Thats a good idea. Thanks for advice. I'm going to check for continuity when I get back from band practice tonight and report back.
I at least made sure it was a new battery but I totally understand, got to ask those questions.

So just an update on this; Somehow the battery is now getting power to it. But the output is very low and fuzzy. I will have to get the audio probe out and take a look. But for this discussion, the dc power does not seem to be the root cause of the issues.
