Santa got my son these enclosures for Christmas and he decided to put stickers on and partially rip them off etc

Really it was just an excuse for me to make more pedals

Built a couple of these using 3904’s in the 280 range and it didn’t have that gated feel the Mammoth has. After some reading I found in a few forums that the circuit tends to prefer 3904’s in the 200 range. Fortunately I socketed, so I pulled the 280’s out and put in ones at 204 & 209 and it now it has the wonderful Velcro/gated sound. Hopefully this will help someone

Mine sounds fine without sorting transistors. Funny though that my volume knob, while it is working, doesn't seem to be able to get super loud. It's loud enough it just doesn't seem to get louder after like 12 o'clock
