1) Fender Lonestar Strat, American Hotrod series, my #1 for many years
2) My PRS Singlecut Trem
3) My Gibson Firebird Studio with P90's
and tomorrow this will be a totally different group, except that Strat

Well, you said guitar, Fig, but... Here's my favourite axes:

#1) 1932 AlCoA upright,
#2) 5-string upright by Emmanuelle Wilfer that I wanted but couldn't afford — Wilfer, made it for a well respected Torontonian Jazz bassist in the 1930s. The very prestigious shop out of NY butchered it into a 4-string just to get a sale — M Fers.
#3) Cheap & cheerful go anywhere do anything CCB — all plywood and if it got wrecked I'd be super bummed 'cause it's irreplaceable for the amount of fun I've gotten out of it and I wouldn't be able to replace it for the money I paid.

Two out of three ain't bad.

If you rillayrillay meant guitar:
#1) Gibson 1968/9 SG Special
#2) Gretsch Rancher
#3) Tele-clone

Why? Because they're mine.

Fantasy Guitars:
#1) '54 Gibson Les Paul "Golden Custom" (hybrid of Goldtop body with Custom neck (early 50s) with Bridge P90 and Neck Staple pickups respectively. I'm a fan of Les Paul the dude, 'cause he was funny as hell, a CGP, and gave us modern multi-track recording amongst many other gifts. And no, Gibson never made a "Golden Custom" — that's just what I'd butcher up if I had a bajillion in the coffer.
#2) '56 Gretsch Sparkle Jet
#3) Wild Card — any of the following: '57 Mary Kay strat / Kelvinator Barney Kessel / '66 Jaguar / Japanese Fender Bottom Master ...
ooohh it's a long list and I don't want to keep you here for daze.

Those sound like some killer uprights! Do you have a piezo, magnetic, or mic system of any sort for your ‘32 Alcoa? I’d love to hear a nice upright bass like that thru some pedals

Dang that's a tough one... but here's my thoughts, the first two rise above the third on the list, but picking between the first two is nearly impossible... I'm also limiting myself to one guitar per major manufacturer...

Fender - My favorite Fender is the Strat. I have a couple, one MIM and one Partscaster I built with Fender parts. Both are extremely nice, and take most of my pedals really well. I have a Telecaster that is a kick in the pants to play, but it's a lot more limited. I've recently finished up my Noventa Jazzmaster clone, and it is a half notch down from my strats. I've played a couple of higher-end Stratocasters (not Custom shop, but the high end US ones - I think it was an American Ultra) that I'd love to be able to pick up some day, as they are amazing instruments.

Gibson - Les Paul. I did just put money down on an ES-335, so it remains to be seen whether the LP stays on top or drops a notch. I only have one Gibson LP, but I have a couple of Epiphones, including an Alex Lifeson Axcess LP. The pickups on the Gibson are far and away better. It's just a joy to pick up and play. I also enjoy the Alex Lifeson, but with the lower end Floyd on it, I wish it would stay in tune better...

Other - Chapman ML-1 Pro Hybrid. Mentioning Rob is probably one of the quickest ways to split a room apart from playing Rush, but honestly my Chapman ends up being my workhorse. The pickups are excellent on it - two Seymour Duncan Hot Strats and one Pearly Gates. That means I can do a lot of "Strat-like" things, though not quite as well as a strat, and a lot of "Gibson-like" things, though not quite like an actual Gibson. It can also sort of Ibanez as well, though it isn't a 24 fret. In short, it is a jack of many trades, and is damn good at most of them.

... an aside... I managed to find a photo of my three listed above that I took a few months ago when I was doing some recording...

I use an Underwood and swap it between my basses, E-side only — other half of the pup is stuck in some foam so I don't get phase cancellation blah blah blah. That either goes into my PZed-Pre or into a HPF3+ by Frances Deck. He's kindly made his schematic public, so I'll build myself one that's in a proper pedal format (currently in a box meant to hide behind the tailpiece, but I just have it on my pedalboard).

I've also got a B-Band pickup system which I might work into a bridge and "clicky" system that I plan on putting on the "Deuce" (though it might be a '31). The AlCoA needs some TLC at the moment, long story.

PS: Love playing upright through effects, LOVE IT!
It's gotta be loud enough through the amplification to match the acoustic volume or drown acoustic-vol out though. My last gig in HK I'd just finished building my first Rat clone, super fun. Lot's of gain though turns these big beasts into full-blown feedback monsters. Such fun.

This is what it looked like STOCK:

A lot of people blaspheme and strip them bare of their faux-wood finish to look like this:

image-jpg.623991

Not my pics, but that's my bass, stripped by the former owner.
Before I bought it, at first I liked the polished look, but then I fell in love with the stealthy hand-painted faux-wood; you often can't tell they're not wood until you're up close enough to smack the body with your hand — that's how good the faux-wood is! If the finish is good, you destroy the history of the bass by stripping it. If the paint is shot-to-hell, go ahead, strip it bare. This one had a good wood-look and shouldn't have been stripped. However, it wasn't my bass at the time and I firmly believe people should do whatever the hell they want with their property.
Anyway, I still bought it, polished.

I got it to combat the humidity in HK, but... sadly it never made it there. @#$%^&* $₶৲₽₱৲₦₲ !

I really need to get her fixed up and take some photos of my own. Finish building my Tele. Build some more pedals. Build a cabinet for my Tweed clone... *sigh* So much to do, who has time to practice or learn to play?

Very nice @Feral Feline  I've come close to trading my 4004 for an upright. It never gets played and I do so love the sound of an upright.

Now to learn bass....lesse E-D...no wait....E-G....dammit...I'm not smart enough. Guitar is much easier, plus I had the names of all the strings tattooed onto my forearm.

First of all, thanks to everyone for sharing the input (and pics  ) on favorite guitars.

Next, it's time to give that THAT kajigger a good home.

Here's how I planned to fetch the random seed number for the winning post;

First, I modified my drone's camera targeting system to include text recognition, added a capture and store appliance, then raised the drone to 30m and hovered over the roadway facing N. The camera then captures all the plate numbers from the vehicles moving away from the camera (as well as any vanity plates on the front). I grab the file from the drone which is simply a single string of numbers and letters. I then remove the characters and randomize the numbers and randomize the order. This produces the seed from which a random number post can be extracted.

But, I forgot to do all that so I just asked Randy...and he said 20. That's @Paradox916 !

Congrats !

Thanks to our gracious host, all of you for playing along and being groovy people. Now, go build something, because I said so! :ROFLMAO:
