Those demos with Telecaster

I'm a 100% strat man but the only reason I've got a tele is because a guy at work was selling a £1200 one for £500 with a seymour duncan antiquity 2 in the neck and the original scratchplate with a seymour duncan APH1N still on it

So a £1200 geetar with £200 added extras

I may even do a demo with it just waiting for someone at work to sell a decent camera and I'm on it....like a rash
 
Got one in parts I need to build, hopefully this fall...

I'm also more of a Strat guy, but got back playing through a Tele, than bought back my Strat I had sold to a friend.
But I really liked that tele with a HB in the bridge, so I thought I'd make one for myself...

It's a 1968 SG Special. It was actually my first electric guitar! I bought it in the 90s as a teen saving up all my money working in restaurants. It's all original except I replaced the bridge (saved the og). It's a rare color called burgundy sparkle which is goldtop covered in trans cherry. Kinda like fender's candy apple red. The color isn't that desired by collectors because it doesn't age well, meaning it's prone to heavy checking and flaking. I love how nasty it looks though. Ha.

I think tele's are good for demoing anything (guitar related, anyway) because they are pretty honest. Strats and Les Paul's are pretty easy to play. Tele's require a bit more concentration, in my opinion. They also sound very honest. A tele can do many different sounds, so you can get a wide range of tones for demos. Tele's seem to be popular in general nowadays anyway...
 
I've been playing for around 40 years (!) and the first guitar I ever wanted was a Strat. I've owned lots and currently have an absolute beauty - a CS Strat in crazed white - it's a '60s style with veneer board and ash body. And still they drive me crazy! I'm much happier with a Gretsch or Gibson and even a Tele is more my sound. I play my Strat for about 10 minutes then out it back and get a 335 or Duo Jet. But I won't sell the Strat because I know I'll just want another.
 
I Love my Tele, it's a '62 reproduction I got back in the mid 90's. When my youngest decided to take up playing, she latched onto it and wouldn't give it back until I bought her a Strat! :LOL: Strats are nice guitars but I will take a Tele over a Strat any day. They are true work horses that can play anything!

I ordered me an 09’ Highway One Tele today! I got a nice 60s CV Squier Tele I gotta unload now if you’re interested....and in the US.

Few weeks ago I realized all my guitars are humbuckers... Not an on purpose decision over 35 years, totally unconscious choice.

This explain why I posted about this. :)

One thing for sure is that it will have a rosewood or Pau Ferro fingerboard. I can't stand maple fingerboards. But that's just me.
 
I have a Squier VM Tele custom and will like it more when I get a neck with a wider nut on it. My 80s Peavey Predator Strat has the PERFECT neck for my clown hands and need something comparable for the Tele. Was tempted to throw a J Mascis Jazzmaster neck on it.
