CONTEST Tube Screaming Tuesdays

CONTEST
I, like many others here, haven't built a straight up TS necessarily, but I do have a couple builds that use a TS-style circuit if that counts?
This first one I built for a friend who wanted a Tube Screamer to boost the mids, but didn't want any of the gain. So I just jumpered the gain section and now he has a mids boost with a tone control!

The second one I built for myself. It's a 2-in-1 with a Green Russian on one side and a Plumes on the other. Not exactly a Tube Screamer, but I'm pretty sure the Plumes is based off of that. Plus, who doesn't love a mids-boosted Big Muff??

You know... I'd forgotten that the Plumes was tube screamer based until @jwyles90 reminded me of it... here's my Plumes clone, that I ended up liking a heck of a lot more than I thought I would... with feathered dino and terror bird of course!

Obligatory gut shot of the first one with no soft bypass...

.... but I decided I wanted one that worked like the original.... so...

This is turning out to be one of the greatest collections of TSers of all time! 🏆

That's not surprising from the greatest assemblage of builders in the world....take a bow, that's you! :D

This week's recipient of the TST award goes to @Fingolfen ! 🥳 Congrats!

If some of you are all out of TS builds to post I have a wonderful idea......go build more! 🤣

See you next Tubesday. 😉

I like what you did there, that is my wife's favorite word.

Happy TS Tuesday!
This is an older build. I'm proud to say I can't post a new picture because my guitarist loved it so much, he took it for his pedalboard. He's not the first guitarist I've loaned it to, who liked it better than the Zendrive or the stock tubescreamer.

I'm planning to build him a proper one for xmas, in a proper 125b, without a hole that's covered up by a sticker, leaving the bass boost switch properly inside the box.

Did you “roll your own”? Or is this the Xotic Soul Driven project from Aion?

I built the Aion (forget the name of the board) for my brother. It sounded like a Zen drive with a bit more EQ control. I like/liked it. It’s actually back in the fold now, he sent it back saying one of the knobs wasn’t working but I have yet to figure out what’s wrong with it, works perfectly for me…..(freaking guitar players……..hahahaha)

It's the Solenoid. Amazingly, I've never had to order from Aion since Robert has come through with everything I've wanted to build.

I'm building the 2nd one now for my guitarist. @Iceman53 has a mod I'm copying to get the gain under control. (i.e. use A500k instead of B1M for gain) since my dude keeps his gain down at 0.5.

Guitarists sometimes forget to turn on the power supply.
It's probably the bass knob he can't hear because it boosts way down at 120Hz, which his Champ isn't reproducing. :p

What the f'ing ever? How did I miss this board??? I didn't know there was a PPCB board for this......as much time as I spend on the freaking website browsing.......sheesh......

Edit: Well of course I have to build it now......:)

He sent back an AC Booster and the Soul Driven, said they weren't working. I built another AC Booster for him and he loves it. But I can't for the life of me find anything wrong with the two pedals he sent back. So I asked him and he said "Well.....I just wasn't getting "my sound" out them anymore...... . Apparently the replacements I sent him work fine.....go figure.....heh. He gigs with a Vibrolux Reverb and I think a Blues Jr.

Edit: This is why I will NEVER sell pedals.......EVER. I'll build them for my brother and my friends.....but I just CANNOT deal with whiney customers hahahah.......

You must avoid the temptation to offer to help fix his amps when they develop a hum or some other problem.
Have some phrase in your back pocket like, “I don't feel comfortable around high voltages” or something like that.

I say this as someone who spent at least 3 hours this evening working on a friend's amp.
This happens because I tend to say, "Yeah, we can probably figure that out..." and then I get stuck with a job that can stretch into several days.

That is very wise. I once spent 4 days of my life re-wiring a tube amp from the ground up.
The owner commented that the wiring looked sloppy. o_O It killed me.
