UPS hit me with a brokerage fee from Tayda

In the USA? I've never heard of that.

Better than $30+ that I've heard from some other countries, but still.....

How much was the order total (before the brokerage fee) if you don't mind me asking?

I haven't heard of that either. I have had a Tayda package ripped apart by customs and border protection (repackaged with their own branded tape and a nice sticker!) though.

Yup, to the US. The order was $24.12 and I foolishly paid $10.98 for UPS
Wow. that's way less than what I would've expected. I don't think Tayda uses DHL anymore for CONUS shipments. Those always used to fly through the ports without issue. I've had one order go through with UPS without a hiccup though. Sorry that you got dinged with a fee.

Been around that block a few times with DHL (I've only used USPS with Tayda though) but did not know UPS was bad about that too. Thanks for the heads up - I've been tempted when I've been impatient as well

The DHL option appears to be available again. I've used it quite a few times, only used UPS once, but never been charged any customs/brokerage fees.

I know this is common for Canada (and other international shipments) but I've never heard of a US shipment being charged these fees...

If this is going to be the new norm I'll definitely be using plain old USPS for everything if it isn't an absolute emergency. The usual 9 days isn't so bad.

Ive noticed that if i save up for a big a$$ order from tayda, the DHL shipping is about as much as any other, longer option to the US. It seemed like weight was the deciding factor, but its been a few months since ive put any orders in in general… its been getting harder and harder to source things cheaply it seems…

Huh. How big are these orders? I ordered 5 enclosures sprinkled with a load WIMA crackpacitors once and it was still maybe $12 from DHL, and UPS was about the same. I rarely use USPS, but that's because no one wants to see me when I don't have my solderin' time in the evening.

The problem with DHL is fixed customs clearance fee 16,50€ plus VAT (GST ON IMPORTATION (TX))

I have been ordering most parts through Mouser up to now, but I'm making the switch to Tayda. I live in Dallas and Mouser is in a nearby suburb so parts always arrive next-day, but they only offer UPS with a minimum shipping price of $7.99 regardless how small and charge sales tax. My last small order from Tayda shipped for $1 via USPS and no sales tax. Plus they have cheaper prices on a lot of the same parts. I'll wait the extra week to save that much. No-brainer.
