I was investigating a few things last night. It just seems like a redesign of the ElectroVibe, with a full and Mini version, plus a Deluxe version coming out, would be pretty time consuming and silly.
I’ve been reviewing the classic Unicord schematic against many of the available schematics, such as the ElectroVibe, Harbinger, Forum Vibe, etc.
I think a non-stacked 125B version could be doable but would involve some tweaks to the schematic and component selection:
1.) Make any discrete transistor Darlington pairs a true Darlington, i.e. MPSA13 or MPSA14. That eliminates 6 discrete transistors if I’m counting correctly.
2.) Eliminate the charge pump circuitry and run 18-24 vDC direct to the 15 vDC regulator. That frees up some precious board space.
3.) Mouser sells a KOA Spear branded metal film resistor that is 1/4w in 1/8w size. That should free up considerable space.
4.) Sub 50 vDC tantalum for anything explicitly requiring electrolytic. Use MLCC wherever possible.
5.) Move gain and bias offboard (something I’m doing on my big EVibe already)
6.) Use a PCB mounted DC jack and extend the board space up between the I/O jacks.
I’m gonna take a crack at a board design.
