Vertical Electrovibe

Hear me out Bugg…

I’ve bonded with my full size Electrovibe after my personal mods and moving the Offset and Gain controls outside.

However, the horizontal configuration is not as pedalboard friendly as a vertical one.

Not expecting anything but I would be pumped…

You might want to wait on the next version of the ElectroVibe (which was planned to be called the ElectroVibe Deluxe, coincidentally) before settling on your control set....

Just to prevent the need for an ElectroVibe Deluxe Deluxe.

Fair enough! Excited to see what it has going on under the hood. The big thing for me is the vertical orientation and some of the internal mods.

Looking forward to what you have coming.

I mean seriously. :ROFLMAO:

The biggest obstacle I see is the phase rotary switch... That'll take up a lot of real estate that we already don't have a surplus of, and depending on how many caps have to be switched for each mode might involve additional circuitry to handle the switching.
The plastic shaft is an issue (this one accept slotted knob or screwdriver), but I think there is one that may be beefier. I can send you these to putz with (6-pt).

I was going to try a variable capacitor (following an established base capacitance) to set the Q-center. Thoughts? Been there done that-bad idea?

I'm begining to think y'all don't even like uni-vibes, constantly trying to turn it into something it's not smh. Why not just get a JHS one and call it a day 😂

Well, to say the original Univibe was without the need for improvements is foolish.

Let's exclude all the boutique Vibes for a moment, as they tend to really tweak certain things to make themselves standout from the crowd.

The ElectroVibe is a very traditional UniVibe. Sure it has 2 speeds but that's not outside of the bounds of the original circuit. It has a Darlington pair driving the bulb. That's not original but an improvement. It's got a Bias trim for the LFO. That's not original but an improvement. It's got a self-contained power supply so it can achieve the proper voltages on 9 vDC. That's not original

How about the MBP Harbinger? They take it further by adding the rate LED, changing some of the 2N5088 Darlington pairs to MPSA13 and incorporating the input buffer to combat unity gain issues.

I love the Univibe sound but it can be better without changing much. All i'm asking here is for it to be vertical and have 3 useful internal controls put outside.

I'll probably just end up doing it myself!

I'm not sure, @fig and @Big Monk will breadboard it though. Likey insert a pt2399 being molested by an lm324 in place of the diodes in the opamp clipping section and use an electric druid stomplfo to handle all the weird wave forms. Put it on the make-a-wishlist foundation section, lots of pie in the sky ideas going around lately😬

Can we get an Electrovibe pcb that will fit into the control cavity of a Telecaster?…

It is not, and I am offended that you would say such a thing.

I kid really, the Unicorn isn't terrible but it's a bit different from the vintage circuit. It has a digital LFO and some opamp gain stages.

I remember seeing a pic of the Unicorn in the What’s on the Bench thread, and a few weeks later the Electrovibe came out.
