VHS: Slower than normal chorus?

Hey folks, just finished a VHS build. Everything appears to be working. However, one thing I noticed was that the chorus seems awfully slow when maxed out. In the demo for the JHS Space Commander (
), the chorus has a pretty rapid speed and gives it a nice vibe effect to it. I'm not really getting that at all. It's just more of a wavvy chorus...definitely slower than in this demo for sure.

I'll post pics of my build, but I am wondering what controls the speed of the chorus and what could potentially be breaking it. Would a bad solder lead on the FV-1 cause this? Figure this is a good place to start but wanted to be sure.

Put this one down as yet another one that eludes me a bit. Seems the modulation and reverb stuff always bites me in the butt a bit. :P

Amplified Parts. They had a few and managed to snag one.

Also check that you are getting 3.3V at one end of the chorus pot, gnd at the other end, and smooth variation at the middle lug as you turn it.

Checked the Chorus pot. All good there. Ordered more crystals and 15p caps. Gonna switch those out. I think Tayda might be slipping a bit with the quality of some of their stuff...at least with more specialty stuff like crystals, trimmers, and whatnot.

Alright, switched out the crystal and 15p cap. No change. So, to recap, the chorus works...sort of. But based on the demo posted it seems like the chorus effect should be more pronounced. At full, it should be providing a fast warble...but it's not. On mine, full chorus is rather mild by comparison. It's there...but just more subtle that I would expect. Could it be an EPROM issue possibly?

The rate of the chorus is determined by the algorithm, aside from the pot itself there aren't any external components that would have any effect.

The VHS isn't a direct clone of the JHS Space Commander, it's a work-alike. Like all of the FV-1 projects (with the exception of two), it doesn't use the algorithm data from the original pedal (that's copyrighted IP, we can't legally touch it).

Check the voltage on pin 2 of the Rate pot. If it goes from near 0V (at minimum) to near 3.3V (at maximum) it's probably working like it should.

My Chorus & Boost work Fine!
I want a more realistic Reverb out of my build, It's too Welly & Washy, even at minimum settings!!!!!!!!!!!

Voltage on the Chorus pot checks out.

And, yeah, totally get it on the work-alike thing. Chorus does work and it does sound nice. Granted, not quite as extreme and vibe-like at higher settings...but it does sound nice, especially with the reverb. I'll live with it. :D

BTW, here's what it looks like. Pretty much a total ripoff of the Space Commander. :P

I own an actual VCR and the VHS's I've built sound better...
Only thing different *to my ear* is that the volume boost seems to be a very clear, sterile volume increase while on the VCR, it actually adds a fat boost... Great low volume but kinda gets farty... and definitely a bit of gain
