Wampler Germanium Tumnus!!

Huh, and all this time I kinda just assumed it was germanium because I figured Klon fanboys would crucify anything without them like they did with the EHX Soul Food. Like, swapping the BATs for germanium is like the #1 "mod" for Soul Foods, but I've never heard of anyone doing it to a Tumnus - did they just never bother looking inside?

Yet it was one of everyone's favorite / best sounding Klon's... Funny how that happens ain't it?

I bet TGP is about to lose their shit.

Hell they were even SMD in the full sized one. Maybe they though the germanium was hidden under that impenetrable blob of goop?

Yep, I didn't mean to suggest the new germanium version didn't have germaniums.

That was in response to whether the original had germaniums or not.

I tried Bat diodes with the same forward voltage drop as the germaniums I usually use in one of my earlier klones but never thought they sounded that great. I tried them because id seen them recommend on Madbean and knew the tumnus used them. It's very possible it was all in my head though.

I vaguely remember reading that putting a resistor, or adjusting the size of the resistor, before a pair of schottky diodes can make them sound more softer like germanium. On the kliche its just a 1k resistor. I wonder if Wampler increased it to something like 4.7k or 10k?
