What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Acrylic?
I've done some paint pouting with the kids. Wondered how thick acrylic would hold up on a pedal. Thought about trying enamel with flood thinner added...
Yep, acrylic pour! Insanely easy technique to get, let's say "abstract" looking enclosures. I've done a couple pedals before (one pour, one painted) where I did the whole pedal and they seem to hold up fine. I'm a little bit more worried about this one because it's just the smaller part, you definitely could pick the acrylic out if you tried (although it might be hard to get it off - but at least the edges could get frayed?). I'll do more clear coat layers on this one.

I don't know if I should be using something else, but I've been using this clear coat spray meant for cars I think, but it's easy to apply and seems to hold up well. The result feels a little grainy to the fingertip, but I usually observe my pedals from a distance rather than caress them with intent.

Motip? I use it both matte and gloss on all sorts of projects. Works great on bikes too. Some brand new pedals even get a coat if I see the builder couldn't be bothered to. Especially the slightly sand-y matte is beautiful, and covers slight surface scratches perfectly. Their RAL / car-based color range of acrylic sprays is terrific too. Some truly luxurious colors!

It's this one actually https://www.maston.fi/en/product/one-lacquer/

It's important to know I don't really know what I'm doing (overall, but especially when it comes to painting), but thankfully "Maston One® spray lacguer is the finest multi-surface spray ever made, turning even the most inexperienced user into a paint professional."

So I'm now taking orders too since I'm a paint professional.

Looks like the Finnish variation of the Dutch stuff I use. And your experience sounds like mine as well. Some brands are sort-of fool proof in that their spray just works without keeping much other things in mind. I keep fucking up with other brands that are supposedly reliable (Edding), but others just do what I want them to. Like, the spray range has a larger fault margin or whatever. Or pressing a little bit too long doesn't result in drip right away.

The one other brand I use is Sudwest All-grund spray. An industrial primer that basically wraps a tight hard plastic layer around whatever you want to to paint.

Coffee, sun, music, view on a B&B, and... The smell of alcohol while populating the resistors of a stereo dual-concentric Lectric-FX Downtown... With Acapulco dirt implementation to stink up the muff blend right before the output. But that's a story for another time. This one mainly goes out to you ridiculed boys who clean their desk off and set it all up again, time and time again, for the sake of their mental health!

Also, probably a less popular opinion: But having to use the BOM and search where every part sits due to there being no values on the board. I enjoy it! Working like this adds calmth to the procedure, like patiently putting down a jigsaw puzzle and similar soothing time-killers that take your mind off of things.

Light, fine sanding between clear-coats and then buff it and it'll be super-duper.

Last year...

Just figured out a sweet testing system to keep everything in its place in the shop. My amp is off in the corner under this pegboard so it just made sense. Featuring the Projectile build I just finished.

Love this pedal!

What is it? It looks vaguely familiar, so have I already seen it in a build report?
