What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Friend at work gave me a Les Paul studio he took in years ago with some trades… has a very bad paint job .. Someone repaired a headstock crack and then proceeded to spray paint the guitar to cover it up… Gonna strip it down and see if I can make it look decent again…

Now, when you say, spray painted it to cover a headstock crack, was the neck and back of the headstock painted, too?

More iterating on this faceplate. I did a test engrave/cut and there were a few things I did not like. The size of the rotary knobs I used in my mockup was too small, so I had to enlarge it and move the position markers around. I had to adjust the position of the labels for the switches (I added the purple circles to get the size right). I also made all knobs (but the rotary one) smaller (I have 20mm on right now, but I will probably use some 13mm one so it looks a bit less crowded). I should move the labels for the top knobs... (edit: fixed, also added the polarity indicator just for fun).

Yes… the whole thing was spray bomb except the faceplate… They sanded over the dang serial #’s to the point you can barely make it out but I have the certificate with it as well..

Ya slap some Tru-oil on there and call it a day. Tru-oil finishes feel better to me than lacquer or poly. And it’s way less expensive and low effort.
I'm a professional wood coatings guy for my job.... I'll probably end up doing something fairly difficult..lol I'm seriously thinking about doing a bright pink flake and black lacquer on the sides and neck..... The grain of the mahogany already has a lot of black paint filling the pores up so it will be too much work to get out without removing too much shape of the neck and the joints...

Then you know you want something funky.
