What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

well i did grab some of those jumper wires as per your suggestion on my breadboard thread

Ahhh yes, I do recall that, now.

Are they working well for you? Any problems with the amount of contact they afford?
So far so good, for me, with them.

What's on my bench...

Few things...

TRACE
I don't have permission to share any pics yet, but I've been helping a fellow TBer trace a pedal, remotely.
I've gotta get back on that bike and finish the schematic — all the values are now known and pics of the PCB backlit clearly show the copper paths. Here's a teaser...

BUILD
Also on my workbench, a build for a friend of a friend — a Jordan Boss Tone derivative that didn't work on my breadboard;
I'm not sure what the hell makes me think it'll magically work once I build it up on the Executive Fuzz PCB. 🤷‍♂️
The only thing that's worked for me of late is the Q-Tune Kit.

Here's my layout before I decided to go with the PCB:

SHOOT TO KILL
Speaking of Bunk-Builds ... Then there's all the stuff that doesn't work that I should trouble-shoot, not to mention pedal repairs for friends that are piling up and I should get to before the next jam...

@giovanni The ribbon wires with female<>male ends are available at Tayda (and elsewhere).
I didn't think I needed another type, but I highly recommend getting male<>male and female<>female cables, too. Wound up needing some and of course didn't have any 'cause I only had ordered the male<>female.

OH, and get DIFFERENT LENGTHS, too!

Damn it I just made a $200 order from Tayda!!!

been interested in the suprocaster tele pickup. What do/don’t you dig about it?
I had it as an esquire for awhile and I think it was good in that setup. I've just found it difficult to pair it with another pickup because it doesn't have the sparkle of a single coil pickup. I'm running 500k pots here and I think the neck pickup is brighter or comparably bright

You can guess what pedal is most commonly associated with "space dolphins". I think it works like it should, more or less. Got some fuzz tones, got a lot of space/animal noises, and even got tremolo with very specific settings and the guitar volume on 3. Kinda finicky on the tremolo so I wonder if I should try another transistor for the germanium, but I don't know if that would even improve things and frankly I think it does what it should right now.

i’ve been getting curious about mosfet distortions lately, and this time i went looking for circuits that use BS170s.

the Distortr (ZVEX Distortron) looked good, so i plopped it into this breadboard

sounds alright. not quite as thick and juicy or as bright as i was hoping for, but it definitely has some crunch.
i'm sure others would probably dig it, i just prefer a bit more saturation.
(i'm pretty sure i had the gain close to fully cranked here)

anyone got some BS170-based recommendations?

So after building the feedback looper (at right), I figured wait, why not make one controlled by an expression jack in a smaller form factor (at right) so I can put it and my Leprechaun on the board and dynamically bring in some LSD shrieking?

The good news is that thanks to my knowledgeable and patient cousin, this works. The bad news is that sans bypass switch, there's no signal whatsoever when the expression input is at minimum (ie heel, although as you might surmise from the photo I've been testing with the OBNE expression slider).

Is there anything I can add to the the jack to basically raise the lowest point of the expression input range?

Both the JHS Charlie Brown and Prestige use BS170's and are on here
