What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

just completed a massive revision to the ground scheme of my homebrew SLO

all current now returns to power transformer centre tap via bus bar. input and speaker jacks fully isolated. only x1 chassis contact point for safety earth continuity.

made a 14AWG bus bar out of 15A mains wiring from the hardware store.

took me hours, but worth it. is now a much quieter, better performing amp.

Wow! Great looking wire dressing.

ayy thanks 🤙🏻
pretty happy with the bus bar, but i didn’t really get a chance (kinda forgot) to tidy up the pot wiring properly, was in a big hurry to get it done (so i could use it for band practice yesterday)

will have to tidy it up properly when i go in again next time, there’s a super wonky filter cap that i missed and it’s still bugging me knowing it’s been left like that 😅 (you’ll see it, near V1)

Been busy. I have 5 made ready to be powder coated but i will be making 2 more to use all the material i have left. If i did perfect cuts i know for a fact i could squeeze another 2 but we'll have to see with the next sheet of metal. The enclosure in the middle has a gap you can see. Thats ok cause if you push the enclosure down it closes the gap. Every single one has super tight tolerances hopefully i dont mess up the powder coating cause these came out great!

Calling them the "wedge" style enclosure!

Damn! You have been busy. Those look great! Are you playing with some different dimensions? I especially like that second one from the left - looks a little lower, or maybe just wider? You're inspiring me to get back on that horse!

I've been working through some aluminum I bought for a different project years ago, but I'm running low. Got any hot tips on who the cheap online suppliers are right now?

So they're all supposed to have the same dimensions but do to the handmade nature there's going to be some differences. So i like to think each one is unique! Dude i encourage you to get back to making enclosures! I loved your last design and am still waiting to see what you do with it!

I buy my aluminum from Weld Metals Online they should have everything you need! They're prices aren't bad either i think it was like 52 bucks with shipping for a piece of 16 gauge 22 x 24 sheet.

I'm glad I asked! I just priced them against a couple places I've bought from in the past, and they won by quite a bit. Material is was a little cheaper, but the shipping is massively cheaper. Looks like I'll be placing an order. Now I just need to draw up another enclosure design. Probably heading in the same direction as you - something closer to 125b sized...

Yeah the other design takes up ALOT of aluminum and tbh the 125b sized enclosure will fit all pedal boards better. I’m actually investing in a CNC machine to make sure my stencils come out perfect and I can maximize the amount of enclosures I can make with one sheet of aluminum!
Are we talking laser? Plotter? Router?

I'm dying to hear if 9 to 230v was a success. That's mind blowing.
It's something Nathan's been doing for ages with the SushiBox stuff. I just wanted to play with a different implementation for the same result.
Hopefully he doesn't when he turns it on!
I've been told to keep one hand in your pocket!!!
I spent a lifetime trying to keep my hand off it, now that I'm older everyone is telling me the opposite!
