What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

I’m sorry if bombarding you guys with my enclosures….but I think I might’ve come across my new favorite color….it’s illusion wild copper with space dust as a top coat. It started out as copper and looked nothing like this…im kind of blown away at what it turned into and I love it!!

You'll have to create a thread with all the colors side by side when finished and allow us to vote on our favorite.

Replaced the battery box on a Pignose, tested it and it kept cutting out then would come back around. Looks like I’ll be changing out some electrolytics, I smelled the smell, but was not a witness to the magic tone smoke leaving it’s body. In other news, been at my place in Indiana for the last month and was able to get setup to powder coat in my garage. Finally got to test out that Gojira form Prismatic. It’s definitely sparkly and really hard to get a good pic. Got a few more colors to try out, can’t wait to see how they look! Shared this with a few people privately but last Thursday I picked up this all original 73 vibro champ and am going to be doing a restoration on it. The original speaker is gone so I ordered something different than the garbage one in it and plan ordered caps to replace the 50 year old electrolytics. The pedals I was working on just took a back seat while I work on this. Maybe I'll post a thread, maybe🤷🤡

Maybe one of these:

no, I love fender amps but the "American" style speakers like the Jensen and Utah are not for me, especially alnico magnets. I've always preferred celestion speakers in my fenders. Works better with drive pedals imo. there aren't many 8" speaker options anyways. I used to have a late 70's champ and always regretted selling it, and I've already considered getting a new cabinet with a 10" baffle becauuse that would open a whole world of possibilities.

This workbench was on my workbench until a few minutes ago. My kids like to follow me to the workshop and hang out while I'm building, and they "work on projects" of their own. So I finally buckled down and built them a workbench of their own. Yes the outlet is wired to power, no I don't know why they need that. But it seemed important to me

My first electronics project was bendin a wire into a U and plugging it in. Fun for all ages.

Yeah my wife has requested that I swap the outlet for one of those tamper-resistant ones. Our kids have all been taught about electricity and they're smart kids, but the outlet will get swapped for a safer one.

Low tide mini almost done !

Looks great! I have one of these in the queue and I haven't tackled a stacked board project yet. Any tips on component sourcing? I have the build doc for the large version, but I noticed there isn't one for the mini. Is it just the electros that are special? Would socketing the ICs have been too tall, or is that just your preference?

I haven’t made the mini version, but I think the electrolytic caps are the only height issues. The sockets should fit.

@Erik S Yeah you definitely have room to socket the ICs. When I have a lot of builds on deck not using sockets tends to just make me more invested in finishing and I knew all these ICs were good.

I got caps for it from LCSC, these are all 6.3mm tall caps I think, but anything sub 8mm should be fine. The blue ones were smd that I removed from their bases

I grabbed some of the legged smd style caps from Ali a while back. Double check them. One type I bought wasn't polarized, though they had an indicator.

Cool! May be wise to put a sheet of laminate or other material or a sealer on it. One unsupervised juice spill away from a swollen and warped ant magnet.
Enamel and laquer play well with mdf. Thin coats.
Latex primer would also work, as long as it's mdf compatible.

Good notes. For now it's used strictly for work, no eating or drinking, but once I put in the wall-mounted display and speakers I'm sure it will become a popular snack nook. I'll be sure to seal the top before that happens.
