What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Had been working on getting this guy back in working condition.

The serial number indicates that it's from the 1920s. The motor works just fine, all this thing needed was a new belt, new wiring, and a new tire for the bobbin winder.

I don't sew at all, but I've always loved the beauty of the vintage sewing machines and check them out any chance I get.

There was a fantastic Hong Kong shop — well, a few actually but one in particular — that did sewing-machine repairs and was practically a sewing-machine museum to boot.

My wife's is a foot-treadle powered one, '20s or '30s I forget.

Maybe I should get into car upholstery. Or restoring Kustom amps and cabs, that'd give me an excuse to get a vintage industrial-grade sewing machine...

@Erik S — I LOVE CAFÉ RACERS!
Triumph, Norton, Moto-Guzzi, Benelli, Honda, Yammy...

Now that you posted that, I vaguely recall you may have let slip elsewhere in the forum of your seat-covering talent.

Dang that looks great! What'd it go on?

Thanks! That seat went on a cb550 a buddy of mine was building. I made him a bunch of parts for it. That seat, a rear fender, headlight ears, a bunch of brackets and stuff. Fun project. I couldn't find a pic of what it looked like when it was done. Ended up being his wife's bike eventually. I think she's still riding it.

I did my first resin pour on an enclosure for a destiny behemoth. It was cloudy and bad. I did a 2nd pour on it and it looked great.

But what I didn’t consider is how little play you have with the 9mm pots and the belton brick.

So that 2nd pour made the distance long enough that I can’t get the washers to catch the threads. Thinking about removing a circle of resin big enough for the washer to sink down, but small enough to get covered by a small knob

I’ve removed a small circle because of that.

Oh right on, I'm slightly ahead of you on the Peacock and at this point am stumped on artwork. Really digging the circuit though and as much real estate as this takes up this will likely make my board as a "how much fun is this" effect.

Finally could start on the kit. First time I'm doing something of that scale (or an amp for that matter) so I'm taking my time.

That's the "mechanical" part, ground bus and heater wiring mostly done. An evening filled with doubt and continuity testing.

Also no idea why I got silver plated wire for the bus and heaters and regular unshielded wire for jumpers and the rest of the grounds.

Roll with it. Looks beautiful so far.

Yup, agreed. Looking great!

@Asdrael keeping posting your progress :)

My Rosamp SLO-30 kit disappeared in transit and I got a refund. I was going to get the Ceriatone SLO-50 kit but then I got to thinking that the SLO is very much in the same blood line as the Boogie Mark amps and I have a Mark V… instead ordered the Ceriatone SSS kit today. I need some crystal lattice in my life.

you're moving into drilling, painting, etching, and engraving
I wish there was a place that was like a "rent-a-spray-booth", because I don't think the garage can accommodate 😬. I like the marbled stuff @jjjimi84 does. I wonder if I should try that. I might need to tone down the paint colors' saturation for myself, though ;)

something like this

I had my nephew trim up some aluminum angle pieces for my engraver to just pop enclosures in, set and forget. So I'll need to saddle up and just install them ignoring my fear of the installation itself. Not gonna screw it down, but probably epoxy or something—screws would require me removing it from the board/platform it's on would misalign the laser ever so slightly. I burned the grid/boundaries after I installed it. Primitive, yes. If/when I upgrade, I might get a better enclosure anyway.

edit:
I do want to add in some bracing, just to prevent slight wiggle/wander:

I'm just weird and like to be economical when I can. It's like maybe a gram or two added, so whatever.
