What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

So what's the verdict? Is it legit?
Sounds and feels exactly like it should. It's not the functional equivalent of the original X100 (missing echo, headphone amp, aux in and battery support) but the parts they kept sound totally legit. I wish you could switch directly to any of the 4 sounds, rather than having to cycle through them, but then it would have to be larger. A tone control would also help. I suppose they left some room for a MK2, maybe hedged their bets a bit, not knowing how well it would sell.

Swapped out the tl022s for 5532s in this GE-7 and quieted the dude down quite a bit. I may try to replace some caps too and see if it makes more of a difference

Adding a dual blade pickup to this parlor.

The plan was to mount the pickguard piece under the soundhole but the bracing gets in the way and I also have no idea how to screw it in, pickguard screws don't work because the guard and the guitar top are not threaded. Impossible to secure a nut on a bolt from below. So it will go on top. Looks ugly and the guitar's pickguard makes it slant. This way I at least preserve access to the truss rod, or I can quickly unscrew the pickup.

Any ideas about what screws to use?

Not gonna do the hipster thing with the rubber bridge. I have one soung that requires string muting but I use a kitchen sponge like on bass.

Been a while since I posted something here. Ran out of time, and money... Spend a few months learning Russian for free, but now I'm back on track and ready bring my do my biggest project to date together: transplant the pre-amp / EQ section from one amp into another (same VR series). All wire routings are marked and ready to be connected. Also needed to do four PNP emitter swappings (desoldering these was scary!) between the two boards that are part of the switching circuit (I think), which was maybe the most educational aspect of this.

Another odd idea is using the B+ / B- transformer / rectifier / power amp stuff from the 100W amp (most of which is already inside the case), from which I am stealing the pre-amp and such, and steer some summed audio from somewhere in the circuit through it (main amp is stereo in/out), so I can hook up that speaker as well. From what I gathered, as long as both circuits are isolated from each other, no issues will come of that. No idea if I can just hook both transformers (they're different) to the same power cable though.

Ah well, first things first!

What’s on my “workbench”…

The 383 fires right up with this borrowed battery, so why isn’t my battery taking a charge and starting the motor?

Follow up on the BATTERY situation.

Battery was out of warranty by 1 month, so no new free battery for me.
Had the battery tested and cycled blah-de-blah and the shop-guy said the battery has an internal problem. *DING*

Suddenly it dawned on me — last year the supposed wiring issue I thought the car was having was not the car's wiring at all — it was the start of the F'in' internal demise of the battery itself. Had I properly diagnosed it last year ("can't be the battery, it's practically brand new"), I'd have a new battery under warranty.

A friend has stepped up and offered me his '65 T-bird's old battery (his son gave him a fanschyschmancy gel-battery).
Meanwhile, my other friend that loaned me a battery for the parade day has insisted I use said battery until the exTbird battery can be delivered.

Also, working on finishing populating a few compressor boards.

IMG_0034.jpeg Headed to see my love for the next week out of town. In recovery from colon cancer surgery on Tuesday, and her son an I are picking her up to go home tomorrow.
This whole situation was a freaking whirlwind of an experience, and an absolute mind-F. Talk about life changing events.

She told me to bring my PedalStuff ™️ to spend time while she is sleeping or otherwise resting. Well.. here be the travel kit! Tools, parts, boards, boxes, drill and bits.. whole nine.
Her son has a college friend who wants to build a Pedal or two, and I hope he is able to join in the fun.
