What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Over the years I've had many housemates or fellow band members with huge LP collections. When I was just breaking into legit jazz gigs our keyboard player would often make time during or after rehearsals to play a few select cuts or whole sides, so much more fun and satisfying than doing a YouTube dive to get a feel for the more obscure tunes. He wrote his own charts for at least half our book too, good times.
That's gotta be one of my favorite parts of being in a band- hanging out playing records and eating food after rehearsal

That particular band played a lot of winery gigs, and we often got comp'ed bottles or even cases of very good Washington reds. Post rehearsal dinners over there were just a joy.

The view from our favorite and most regular gig place wasn't too bad either:

My bandmates used to call our rehearsals "meat Mondays" because I used to use it as an excuse to cook meaty food since my wife's vegan. "We doin' meat Monday this week?" A gut full of carnitas, an earful of vinyl, and a few jazz cigarettes is the best... but probably not an effective warm up routine.

Decent mail day. We've got a few home team filters and pot insulators, vfe goodies and my first freebie from the bean, and more flushmount straplocks which are the first piece of a frankenbass that I'm conjuring up at the moment. More of that to come as it trickles in.

Also, in the background is a functioning musical conch shell which I can play a little. This one is kinda crap and murders your chops just to get a decent sound so it's a toothbrush holder in my bathroom. Screenshot_20230306_152648.jpg

I got the Mobius as well as a couple of the other VFe's. I've been staring at the White Horse for a couple weeks now trying to figure out how to drill the enclosure for top jacks...... :ROFLMAO:
