What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Today was PCB day for meeeeeeee 😁

Mercy Brown is a tube mic preamp (SMD bits are 240V SMPS on the left and 48V SMPS on the right) and 7/7 is a 15W amp based on Soldano SLO. I've always loved the Soldano sound but I love the tone and feel of EL84s, and I wanted something that wouldn't break my back, so a 15W SLO seemed like a winner. Planning to build a 1x12 combo cabinet for it.

What happened to too lazy!??! I hope you share your final result of that build, I'd love to see how that comes out!

You named your mic preamp after a tuberculosis victim who was believed to be a "vampire" because she didn't decompose fast enough in a Rhode Island winter?

I'm too lazy to do a 30W version of an SLO, not a 15W ;)

Short answer, yes :P

Long answer: a lot of the time when I name things I play association with words until something sounds catchy.

Valve Mic Preamp
VMP
VAMP
Vampire
Mercy Brown

Not in the mailbox because I went and got it, so it came home in my pocket. I have a Cordyceps on the way, and I was a bit concerned when I saw I needed this obsolete chip, but it turned out that a local shop had some in stock, so instead of paying way too much for delivery and hoping it wouldn't get lost &/or broken, I took an excursion.

Perhaps not the most glamorous or high stakes delivery around these parts, but contains twenty-five 072s from my local at an unbeatable price. I'm forever running out of them, so thought I'd splurge meanwhile.

The rest, transistor sockets as you see, for implementing the esteemed @Chuck D. Bones Repro mods. I'm so enjoying all the Supro variations and this one (the modded 1304 as below) takes the biscuit for warm and fuzzy IMHO. Seems a good candidate for a Boneyard version at some stage @Robert but naturally that's just my opinion.

Do try it, fuzz-loving folks. It's a celebration revelation and my other local stocks 1304s (manic chuckling)...

They are available in the pcb store too if anyone is looking for one.
