New computer, new OS, needed a new DAW upgrade. N-Track Studio 10:

My old version was at least 8 years old IIRC. Still $40 for a full upgrade, can't complain!
Wow, is N-Tracks still alive and kicking?? That was my very first DAW when I was still on Windows. All my early acoustic recordings were done on N-Tracks through a PreSonus "firewire" interface. Had to buy a special PCI card for the Firewire.

Looks like version 10 came out in October, even.

I consider myself quite well versed in the DAW world, I've frequented an audio plugin/DAW related deals subreddit and Discord for years, and an another mixing Discord for years at this point too.

I had literally never heard of N-Tracks in my life, so I don't think it has a very big market share nowadays. But if it works for someone, why not. Changing DAWs and workflows can take up a tremendous amount of energy and effort.

They've always been a bit "underground". They had a free version many moons ago (like 15-18 years ago). Which is why I started using it hahahah. But it looks like they've come a LONG way since then. Back then it wasn't much more than Audacity with a better UI.
Having said that I have way too much invested in my UAD/Luna ecosystem to change now.

100% Agree. I've been using Acid Pro (used to be Sony Acid, now Magix I think) for over a decade for the main reason I'm comfortable with it. I tried Pro Tools, Reaper, etc. just keep coming back to old reliable.
Sonic Foundry Acid! That takes me back! It sure made looping fun on the PC hardware we had in '94!
I eventually went to Sony Vegas for video in the early '00s. Then to Final Cut by '08. On the Adobe teet from 2010-2018. Since then I use Resolve for video and Reaper for audio. GIMP and Inkscape cover and GFX needs. I found Reaper by accident (it properly handled ambisonic) and I've just learned to adapt it to what it want it for at this point. Just work, every time.

Fuzzcases did a very limited-quantity Black Friday deal on ‘Olivetti’ Marshall Supafuzz replica cases. After a long trip overseas, mine made its way to NY today.
It’ll be a good while before I find just the right mojo bits to make this supa fuzz a box of supa hype. Currently debating between doing a more traditional replica (silver hammertone, traditional lettering aesthetic but with my own name), something a little bit more custom (green or blue hammertone maybe? My own font/logo choices in addition to my own name) or full out technicolor madness with a psychedelic paint job or something along those lines (though that may distract a bit too much from the form of the case)

Money for nothing...

I was using Audacity back when it was still Cool Edit Pro, and went through many of the usual DAW suspects over the years. Lately I'd been mostly using the free Bandlab Cakewalk/Sonar Platinum version, which is way cool, but nTrack 7 still worked pretty well for simple stuff and it saved me learning curve time on file format conversions and stuff like that. Getting a new PC gave me a kick in the butt to start messing with virtual instruments, more involved looping, impulse loaders, and so on. I used to get paid to learn new software during winter downtime, lots of Adobe stuff before it went to subscription. But I dig supporting the little guys when it makes sense, and forty bucks is an easy hit, so I'm going to give it a shot. It used to take many hours to get old school DAWs working, but getting nTrack up and running has been completely painless so far.

Got anything planned for that yet?

I'm having trouble deciding which circuit should go in it.

This ODR-S for my friend:

He loves the ODR-1 and wants this as well.

Nice! Welcome to the club. You gonna build it straight up or throw some mods in there? Got any special mojo parts for it?
I might throw some minor tweaks on it, but I'll build it stock at first to see how I like it. If I do end up tweaking it, it'll just be the same mods that I've done to the Turbo Rats on my board- slight increase on overall distortion, LED clipping, and allowing a bit more of the high end hash to come through (Im a fan of clangy tones)

As for mojo, I've got a small variety of various metalcan 308s, and a handful of high voltage tantalums- though I don't think I have any 250v. I've already got silver mica in the relevant values, and planning on picking up some PRP resistors and red Wimas for it. And, maybe find some cool metal can for the 3904.
I'm also keeping an eye out for a rad enclosure- I wanna space the pots out a bit more so I can use the Marconi's I bought a while back

Edit- had to keep the theme and just ordered some metalcan Signetic 555s

I like the way you Rat. Can't wait to see your build report. I'm gonna buy another Lab Rat pcb whenever the Tube Zipper clone pcb comes out. I can't wait for that one either.

Various boosts and preamps (Argentum, Obtuse boost, Mach 1, Super ‘64). According to the envelope, these were ‘Missent to Barbados.’ 🇧🇧 The global postal service surely works in mysterious ways. Sorry that their much anticipated Caribbean holiday (with waving palm trees, coconuts, and steel drums) had to be cancelled to reach these shores.

Whipped the Argentum together this afternoon. Fab, build reports to follow.
