Wow USPS is on the ball this week!

I got these from a group buy from @Chuck D. Bones...plus a little bonus prize from Chuck....I think he's telling me something.....(Like get off your ass and learn how to breadboard...... ).

Seriously, now I need some circuits to actually use these tubes in!




This was the REAL surprise, I placed this Smallbear order literally on Saturday after @music6000 turned me onto these ITT Ge diodes.
I decided to take advantage of the sale and pick an assortment of other Ge diodes as well as a couple of IC's I needed for upcoming builds.
Can't wait to throw some of these on the tester and try some out. I was planning to try some different GE's in my Jump Drive but I literally just took it apart this morning to repaint the enclosure.....so I guess it's going to have to wait a bit......

My trusty old heat gun that I picked up probably 10 years for like $20 bucks finally crapped out on me, mid-heat shrink no less...
So I got a new one in the mail today. It looks a lot nicer and has all sorts of nifty attachments and stuff, variable temperature, etc. Kind of weirdly excited

The PCB is an attempt at the Axis Fuzz circuit. I managed to miss a resistor on the schematic and will have to creatively add that in when I put together the board. Hopefully, that's the only big mistake I made!

The faceplate is to go along with the PCB. The silver square was supposed to be unmasked FR4 to allow the indicator LED to shine through for inside the pedal (with hole drilled in enclosure) and make it appear as though a window in the castle was lit up. Inspiration from here. I haven't looked to see what I messed up there yet.

Finally, the Luna Vibe plates are for an Electrovibe build I'm working on. I ordered one of the matching faceplates for it, but realized I wanted to add a name and couldn't decide how to go about doing that with what I have on hand. So, I reinvented the wheel instead...

Thanks! I've been using EasyEDA. I'm not sure how it compares to other platforms/software, but it's been working for my purposes.

Looks like you didn’t set a keepout area for the copper pour along with the solder mask.

Thanks for the help! I just looked back at the project file and that looks to be the problem. I must have had the copper area hidden when I finalized the file and completely missed that. There's still hope for the idea!

All looks fantaStic! I love the faceplate design for the Electrovibe, and the magic castle is very cool too!

Ordered some boards during Brian’s sale, which arrived yesterday (nearly two months waiting time). Basically I got three boards for the price of two but must now wait a bit longer for some of the more exotic parts (BBDs, CA3140, NE570, 240pF mica caps, and so on) to arrive from Europe and CabinTech. So I’m getting the respective BoMs together in no haste (measure, label, tick off, and so on). Will keep the collective informed as to progress … eventually, in the fullness of time, later rather than sooner, and so on. Meanwhile please feel free to go build something (tries not looking in @MichaelW’s direction but fails miserably)

Combined package from AliExpress.

I ordered:
10 x DIP 6
20 x DIP 8
10 x DIP 14
10 x DIP 16

I received the right amounts except I got 12 x DIP 14. BONUS!

From another seller I ordered a couple of these soft touch momentary footswitches. They seem fine, quality looks the same as the ones Tayda sells but these (and the DIP sockets) are a bit cheaper.

A few of the things that arrived while we were away...

First up, a dusty, crappy old Hammond tube amp. I'll clean it up a bit, replace the missing tube and bring it up on a variac...it may just be a scavenge job..we'll see.

Next, another couple of IBM military aircraft tube amps (circa 1970) that I want to play with and maybe make a preamp pedal circuit or something cool. These are sealed in a copper casing, so they look nearly brand new! Once I get the pinout and voltages figured out, I'll give it a go.

Speaking of tube amps...this one is my favorite..a 1949 Motorola tweed portable tube radio!

Many, many, mini tubes for upcoming pedal projects....

It is indeed. I'll clean it a bit and get some more shots. It's in pretty good shape overall. I might try to mod it where it can serve as a headphone amp as well as it's intended purpose.

I didn't take any pics of the tube phonograph that came...not too much was salvageable, other than a couple of odd voltage tubes (which I already have a mountain of) , a couple of knobs, a switch, two hinges, a strap, and a "speaker". I've a few more inquiries out....now if only I could be repurposed.
