What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Oh man. Looks like I’ve got another tayda order to do. Snooping on your haul paid off big time!
I've grown to like the look of those lampshades but I'm not sure how I feel about the cost vs other options. And the retaining rings are kind of a pain to get on

Dafuq!? These things:

Have a retaining clip? 1/4in hole and then click in the LED works for me
That works great most of the time, but I’ve had some lately that were a little loose for 1/4 inch, so I’ve been adding a spot of superglue from the inside. Also - I usually have to bend the tabs in a little to get a good click-in from the LED. Wondering if the ring helps with that too. They can’t be charging much for them, and no matter what it’s still cheaper than the fancy chrome bezels I had been using.

The rings are goddamn 30 cents but they keep everything super snug

They’re currently my favorite option for sure. Bare led through a hole is a classy option too, and I guess that would be the cheapest, but other than that I think the lampshades are the cheapest thing that I think looks good.

Tayda was nice enough to post the dimensions, and I’m just enough of a cheapskate, that I might crank out a batch.
They're like, kinda rubbery. And a tight fit. I've been slipping them over a set of needle nose pliers to slightly stretch them before installing

I was all fired up to make some on the lathe, then I thought to dig for some tubing… looks like the official ones are 1/4 ID, and a little under 3/8 OD. I have some clear tubing in that dimension and just snipped off a ring with some cable cutters, and I think it’ll work.

Thank you. I love this. Please follow up when you install one

AliExpress is the chinese equivalent of ebay/amazon. A lot of the products on ebay/amazon are the same with a markup. I've been buying from AliExpress for years, you have to be wary, the same as ebay, but there are reputable shops there. The one I linked is from the Daier one: https://daier.aliexpress.com/store/406327
If I'm right, Daier supply a bunch of stuff to Tayda. It's often better for me to get via AliExpress because the shipping and customs charges are lower to Germany. The Daier store has good prices (for me) for enclosures, switches, and knobs. Some stuff you have to buy in bulk, but I can easily get through 50x jacks in a year.
How fast is the shipping to Germany?
