What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Speaking of Ukraine, I recently received a box of 100 GT310Б germanium transistors from an eBay seller located in Poltava. They arrived at my home in the USA about two weeks after I placed my order, and showed up in the original sealed box:

For those who aren't familiar with the GT310Б, it's a higher gain, low leakage germanium transistor that comes in the smallest package that I've ever seen for a through hole transistor. Here's a picture of a GT310Б (center) with TO-92 (left) and TO-18 (right) transistors for comparison:

I took some measurements on my DCA55. The hFE ranges from 53 to 179. None of them had more than 40 µA of leakage, with an average hFE of 108 (median 109) and an average leakage of >10 µA. I also tried them in a couple of simple circuits on the breadboard (fuzz face and rangemaster), and they sound great.

In case anyone else needs a lifetime supply of germanium transistors, the same seller still has a number of boxes for sale at a very reasonable price.

Got a link to that seller?

Here's the listing. I should also note that the seller also was thoughtful enough to include a picture that shows the results of testing a representative transistor in a TC1 transistor tester. The gain and leakage in the picture were within 1% of the mean gain and leakage values for the transistors in my box, so it's about as close to a representative sample as you could possibly want.

I've purchased several lots from him. Good guy.

I just found this seller and it turns out he's about 20 miles away from me.

You may recall that I had some issues with the pot that I got from Smallbear for my Shamwah.
I took it apart and cleaned it real well, according to @Nic there was a small dead mouse living in it...... :ROFLMAO:.

Anyway, it still wasn't working right, really scratchy and noisy. I finally decided to replace it.

I got one of these from Chase Tone (makers of the Secret Preamp) that just showed up today.

It was a little pricey ($20) but I decided to give it a try. Woohoo! It sounds great!
Very smooth and vocal taper. Dead quiet and....NO MAINTENANCE woohoo!

I popped it in my ShamWah, I'll try to work it into a future demo.
Definitely worth it for me!

The neighborhood mutts have struck again leaving only remnants of the bubble mailer..

I guess I'll be poking through dog poops with a stick if I want my new tripod mount :poop:

It's an ultimate ears wonderboom 3. Wirecutter said it was their top pick and I don't want to comparison shop. I also spite bought it from Best buy because I'm (extra) mad at Amazon beyond the normal level
I can only imagine what Amazon did….

Thanks for letting me know. My recent Bluetooth speaker went to crap earlier this week. Going to certainly look into it!
