More silver micas plus a lot of these vintage jobies purely for the collectorism. Vintage glass micas. Supposedly used by DOD and NASA due to their wide operating temperature spec. Made by corning glass ware. Basically pyrex silver mica. Hard to photo.

Wonder if I put one of these one a CTS pot if I can sale it as a ultra transparent treble bleed or some dumb s**t to some dumb sh*t.
What's more transparent than glass?

How do those jacks hold up compared to Switchcraft open frame (like what we have in our guitars)? Look quite a bit more compact

Awesome camera dude. I cut my teeth on a Minolta XD-11 -- not dissimilar from the Nikkormat FT. I absolutely love these vintage 35mm cameras.

So long as they're actual Lumbergs, they're awesome. Pretty sure I have one of these in either my Danelectro or Meteora, and no issues for 2-3 years

The lumbergs are fine -- they are slightly smaller, but they really don't save a ton of space. I bought a bunch to use in 1590A builds. They do save a bit of space where space is a premium, but for most builds the switchcraft are my go to.

Never seen those vintage glass micas before, SO cool! Remind me of dominos or dice. Is that how you achieve the "glassy" guitar tone?

As long as they're real, too. Somewhere along the line I got some counterfeits and the resin bits are a good 1–2mm wider diameter. At that scale 2mm can h*ck up a build. They go in verification builds… still a bummer that I paid full price for them.

Remember the 11/11/'23 sale on Aliexpress?

I ordered a few bits 'n' bobs, and forgot that you can make one huge order but not everything in that order comes from the same place/vendor. I thought I'd received everything from that 11/11/'23 sale, then this arrived:

Ten SMD "J201" transistors. It's almost not worth the effort and postage the vendor had to put forward and pay for!










Then my latest PedalPCB order came in, with a few surprise extras. Thank you @Robert !

I've got one of the boards mostly populated already, but of course I'm out of certain sizes of caps and resistors.
There's ALWAYS something missing in my parts stash...

Don't think I've ever put a real Switchcraft in a pedal, but have used a few of the Tayda ones. They're so dang tight I've knocked whole swaths of crap off my workbench when they finally give up the cable. It's an easy enough fix, but you have to remember to actually fix them before closing up the enclosure 🤦‍♂️

For low-profile stuff, I've used a few of the tubes'n more low-profile jacks in 1590B builds. They seem good so far and save the most vertical space of any of the jacks I've tried. Got the idea from a 1590B advice thread, I believe.

After throwing in some “alleged high quality” switchcraft closed circuit knock-off jacks. After they ALL failed after using just once, I swapped them out with Switchcraft and haven’t used anything else since.

Also had experience a few decades ago with some pedals I built using cheaper jacks. Ended up loose, noisy and crackling etc. ended up hardwiring all of my pedals together lol
 
I am absolutely flabbergasted by how quickly these arrived in N Ireland and how awesome they look. I can't wait for the rest of my parts to arrive and to decide on graphics etc so I can get these built.

@steviejr92 has knocked it out of the park with these. Oh and A+ for the presentation as well dude.

Gonna be jerking some tears on bass courtesy of the Chuck D. Bones bass mods and cannibalizing a red fasel from a crybaby board. Trying to decide which of the trimmers to make external, thinking all but the vol right now. The other is an arachnid board with a custom eeprom of mostly ambient reverbs and delays. Also going to trick it out with a clock board with external pot, a switch to access the internal FV-1 programs, and relay switching. Also some DC boards to power all of that.
 
I sold a pedal (to a friend for friends prices) so technically I get to buy myself a treat :P 🤡

Starting to build up a stash of mica caps.

The vendor kind of just made spaghetti with things, so I rehoused them into Tayda bags. Even though they're out of order, you can visually tell where I started and where I gave up straightening them :P
