Just as a sidenote, it's a perpetual license but it's valid for only two major versions (the one you buy it on and the next one).Reaper!!
I'm no talented producer but I'm using Reaper for all my DAW needs and would highly recommend it especially under these circumstances. It's fully-featured as far as I can tell, with an unlimited evaluation period, open-source and works on all OSs, and a perpetual license is $60 (yes, really).

That means it's good for updates for maybe two years? Not sure. Afterwards you have to re-buy it if you want updates, but $60 is dirt cheap in the DAW world and I think pretty much all the other premier DAW's you also need to pay for updates (usually for every version).
