What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

On a side note, I got some white DC jacks this time and I would prefer some chrome ones. Is Amazon a decent source for those? I can't seem to find 3 pin ones...

You can't (easily) use metallic DC jacks in negative ground pedal circuits because the outer sleeve is the positive terminal.

You'd need a non-conductive enclosure or some method to insulate the jack from the enclosure.

Fabulous Friday!

Good point. And I can't be bothered making up an insulation sleeve for this. Then again, I just realized I don't really need a 3 pin as I never use a battery. Probably going to go for something like this, will look good enough with a healthy plastic core and a limited footprint:

Get the good ones from SBP/LMS I use them all the time but there's a big difference in quality vs the ones found on tayda or Amazon. The cheaper ones melt easier, also the threads can be kind of off and frustrating to install. I've only had a few fail and that's only after desoldering for repair but it's one of the few things I don't buy from tayda anymore.

Grabbed one of these on blowout for 125 shipped direct from PMI.

Pretty versatile. Distortion pre/post, 3 band semi-para EQ, harmonic voicing, insert between the two and a DI out.
Hoping it works as a good dirt pedal for bass. Takes 9-18v AC or DC power too. Has a Peavey like heft to it but... Side jacks. That's why it didn't sale. 😂

Any relation beyond just appearance to the boss db-5?

Just checked out demos and man that’s an interesting drive section. So curious what that circuit looks like
Yeah. It's different for sure. I was tempted (as always) to take it apart but there are a lot of screws. I think it would be a PITA to get back together and is probably all smd anyway.
I'm guessing the even order "enhancer" is something like a parallel jfet clipping stage with a bandpass filter?
And the odd is diode clipping switches between soft feedback path and hard clippers to ground.
Going to give it a go a little later today.

At first I was stricken with curiousity, then I read "meequalizer" and lost interest.
