It sounds far too good to be true. If you decide to follow through, please exercise caution. Personally, I’d run. Nothing that spectacular has ever come that easy for me.

She is almost incapacitated. Cannot stand. It's going to require me to change my entire way of life to be her caregiver. And she looks like crap. All self esteem is gone. Building that up first. So, a visit to the salon for a cut and hair dye, and a lot of visits to a physical therapist. I am not worried about the money.

Am I skeptical? Hell yes I am, I was in charge of several company's computer systems, including security for my entire career. So long ago it was pre-scams, but I worked through the beginnings of the scam age, and have received the prince of Nigeria email. The entire crew just laughed and laughed, lol....

Where and how did she find out about her winnings? People don't just randomly come into windfalls like that, so make sure y'all verify everything a thousand times over before any personal information is given out, and if money is supposedly needed to get the supposed winnings run away!

Well they have paid off the $17,000 on the credit card. And they just want a valid drivers license and bank/routing number to make the initial deposit and weekly payments. None of the other information needed to do ID theft, and she's pennyless anyway even if they did. Joke's on them!!!

She has zero in the bank, is not yet receiving any of the funds she could be collecting like SSA, EBT, MEDI-CAL, etc. I'm going to be helping her to get back her drivers license. Just bought a wheelchair so I can wheel her to the DMV. Then we'll establish a brand new bank account so she can collect the winnings.

So it looks real. I'm not getting my hopes up but I am going to buy a nice thick NY steak for the first time in four years, lol....

If this DOES come through I won't need to apply for the free government services, otherwise I'll be doing that for her 'cuz she's overwhelmed by details when she tries to make phone calls and fill out forms. I'm actually happier about having another person in my life than the money. It's been a very lonely 3 years since my wife passed. Oh sure my four huskies keep me company, and they listen to me but not having normal chit chat in life is ......difficult.

(I want to be clear that I’m not casting aspersions on your ex or her street smarts; there are some very talented and devious scammers out there and they’ve been getting everyone from retirees to CEOs.) She owns a house on seven acres of land in Tick Canyon, very rustic. She needs physical assistance after allowing her body to atrophy after her husband AND son died. I visited her last weekend and that damn dirt road shook my truck so hard it killed my transmission, front end, water pump and power steering pump. Transmission on order, everything else fixed. Sure rides nice now. It's been making a shipload of noise lately, I knew it needed work. The poorly maintained half washed out road was just the last straw on the camels back. $2530 for the work already done. It's was a lot of work, they also replaced the rack and pinion. Just like a new car now.

I was going to ask her to marry me 50 years ago, but her best friend didn't want her to marry me and told her a bunch of really nasty lies, and she didn't talk to me again for about 10 years and we were both married by then. So, not a scam. And so bizarre that it happened right after I delivered groceries.

I am trying my hardest to get her to move in with me, and just bought a wheelchair for her so I can wheel her to my truck and whisk her to my house.

I make her happy, she makes me happy, what more is there?

Well they haven't asked for a dime. All they want is proof she's really Lory ********* and they'll make the deposit and send the car. She gave them her license number but it's expired and the DMV refuses to verify it. So we gotta get that renewed. They called Visa and they DID verify her identity and they paid off the $17,000 in debt.

So the money has already begun to flow our way, but the DMV wants her to come in person and she cannot walk, ergo I bought a wheelchair that arrived last night so that after my transmission is fixed I can take her to the DMV, renew the license and call them to let them know. Once they verify that it is valid that's the last step.

They wanted to give her a 10 million dollar house but she choose the cash option. These are the same people you see advertising free house in the country sweepstakes. She followed the directions and entered about 8 months ago.

I keep repeating "I will not floor the gas pedal on a 600 hp Mercedes...."

Dude. That payment will get reversed and then she'll get charged more or they'll open a credit line in her name and max it. What's the name of this company? I've never heard of this nor does paying off a debt seem realistic because that's taxable income and no accounting department would let that fly.
There's a similar scam where they literally wire you a smaller amount of money just to get your bank info, then reverse it and empty your account. She needs to freeze everything. Accounts, credit, direct deposits.

We really aren't trying to be mean, it's just the reality of these kinds of situations. I hope it's not a scam too and you can both live kick ass lives together, no foolin'. Caution must be exercised, though.

They were able to verify her identity with the credit card, so a portion of the $10m went to paying that off. So she has officially "claimed" the prize in the time limit of 30 days after notification. The credit card immediately cancelled her account after being paid off, due to her skipping half a year of payments, so she can't charge on that.

The DMV refuses to talk with the sweepstakes rep because her license renewal was not paid for. All that remains is to pay the DMV their money to reactivate her drivers license so they can verify the license with the sweepstakes rep and then they will put the deposits in the bank of her choice. In addition to the car and the $10m, it's also $10,000ish a week for life, which after taxes comes to about $7000 a week.

Since she has lost the ability to walk, she's giving me the car till she gets better. I'm not really sure what the hell I'm going to do with a fancy fast car since I like big ass trucks. Gonna give the truck I just spent so much to repair to a friend in NorCal and I'm going with a Dodge Ram 1500 RHO with 540 hp. Only a 3 liter, but it's has twin turbos and an 8 speed. A 4wd that actually gets pretty good gas mileage. 0-100 in 11.7 seconds, lol.

Step one is to get her to the doctor to refer her to a physical therapist so we can put some muscle back on those legs and get her mobility back.

I'm going to expand my workshop, get a new roof on the house, a new driveway, cinder-block walls, and buy the house behind me and make it all one huge house. A climate controlled greenhouse so I can garden year round. BUT I HAVE TOO MANY GUITARS ALREADY, I'm cutting myself off at 32. That's it I swear. It's hard to store them all. I may give some of them away and replace with more expensive ones tho, lol.

I first used Ira after getting busted with weed in the 70's. My God they were talking about a 7 year prison sentence for 4 grams. Jumpin' Jesus! He got me off with 1 year probation which was then terminated after 6 months when less than an ounce became a fine after the passage of prop 13.

Later when I became a contract IT consultant I kept him on retainer to save money in case I ever got sued, but TG that didn't ever happen.

As far as scams I was the Tech department director, among other IT related positions during my career, including security. I can smell a liar a mile away. They're gonna have a very difficult time getting anything more than a "ignore this user" response out of me, lol. I literally do know every scam trick in the book as I studied them, while being paid to study them, to be sure the department was as safe as possible.

My late wife used to be my tax accountant. She was GOOD. But yeah I'll hire a tax accountant and do bi-yearly audits, and keep the lawyer on retainer, who I'm sure will recommend I pay for lawsuit insurance.

Going to invest with Morgan-Stanley, who currently manages my 401k.

Oh wow, I just realized I'll be able to afford super expensive studio equipment. Holy crap.....

The card was immediately cancelled due to her not paying about a half of a year of payments. She has signed no agreements, or contracts. We'll be opening a new bank account just for the deposits which will then be automatically transferred to Morgan-Stanley. I got this!

And they're spending MILLION$ of dollars just advertising their sweepstakes on TV.
