What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

I tack solder everything that can be from the top then go over it again once everything is in and flipped around. Basic blue PCB holder thing. I have a panavise jr somewhere but it’s the short jaw version and doesn’t work that great.

I thought I would share this microphone that I got. My Instagram was constantly inundated with the ad for this device, and I eventually bit for it. My reasoning was that it is super easy and an all-in-one video and microphone option. I am going to use it to make short demos for pedals that I want to sell. I did several quick videos today, and I think the audio sounds fairly good. The app allows you to add some reverb and manage a small EQ. If you pay the subscription service, the app can do more for you. At this point, I would suggest it.

Here are a couple short demos- If you all have any thoughts, please share.

That's pretty darn slick! The audio sounds great. Perfect for showing what the pedal sounds like for sales purposes.

Well, I've been hearing people rave about these strings for years. Finally broke down and bought a few sets.
My biggest fears have been realized........I like them......a LOT........and they're not exactly cheap.......ugh.

My favorite Pure Nickel round wounds that I've used for years are the DR Pure Blues.
The String Joys sound slightly mellower than the Pure Blues and feel a bit slinkier.

I put them on two of my Strats today and after a couple of hours of playing I noticed that they seem to stay in tune better as well.
I also re-strung two other Strats with Pure Blues and we'll see how long they last compared to the String Joys.

Disclaimer that round wounds require a bit of extra care when cutting them (best to do it under tension). For my vintage strat style tuners I measure out where I need to cut then put a 90 degree bend in it so the wraps stay in place.

Also, stretching them takes a bit of extra care as well. Can't just yank on them like I do my hex core wire strings.

Good choice.

Put them on all my electrics and acoustic, sound amazing, last a while and feel great.

That looks cool. All videos I have seen are filmed in portrait mode, is that the only way or can you film in landscape mode too? How do you find the audio quality?

Wowzers, you got the full-mealio-dealio with SMD spices and evertingy...!

You'd think my hunger for gadgets would be sated, but it's been here for an hour, and I'm already thinking about building one of these...

Honestly, same. Got the tester barely a week ago and the sockets on my makeshift vero adapter board are already pretty loose fit. ZIF would be nice. Also, nice case. Didn't know that existed but now I want one too :D

I have mine attached to a mini breadboard, has been working well for me but this might be even better!

So far, the sound quality is definitely better than the iPhone mic! Overall, I think the quality is fairly good compared to other mics, but I don’t have a lot of experience with mics. I will have to see if it will film in landscape mode. I think that is a limitation.

Took me about a week or so of owning a dca75 before I built up the zif socket adapter myself.

Sadly I just stocked up from Tayda, but I think I still need some odds and ends from Mouser. Maybe I’ll get on that so I can order some ZIFs from them.

The 3d printed shell is pretty slick, but i think I’d probably just run it bare.

I do like the 1232123 routing scheme they used.

Ever take a pedal apart before you plug it in?
Yeah. Me too.
Can you name this pedal?

More friggin chori and a Source audio expression pedal
Beneath is an Alexis XT:c, which is the second reverb they ever made. It is pre-midiverb and what was used on MBV loveless(not the midiverb)
Unlike the midiverb, the decay time is variable including on the reverse setting.
