Keeley loves having one board for several products. Like he said. Not a pedal company, a manufacturing company.

Nothing wrong with that really.

What I don't like is when someone slaps different artwork on the exact same pedal and pretends it's a totally different pedal...

How can the same Crunch Box clone sound just like Angus and Gibbons?

Looks like the difference is clipping diodes, a capacitor, and the Filter toggle switch is fixed in the Left position.

Seriously though, I'm just visually inspecting those caps and assuming they're unchanged... and that means nothing really.

I won't know for sure until I measure them out of circuit, but this one definitely has been piggybacked to increase the value.

I suspect those to be the only changes though.

*adds extra pads in parallel with C10 so another capacitor can be added to increase value*

If I were to commercially release a pedal, I would 100% add unrelated sections with obscure parts and values just so those pesky DIYer's couldn't reverse engineer it.

I’d just throw some 0 ohm resistors in strategic spots, and repaint them to be like 10k or something. Maybe even put some caps in parallel with them so it looks like I have something really crazy going on

Where does the trace coming from the left end of R21 go?

Lug 3 of the 9mm pot, right? Wrong. Look closer.


It doesn't go anywhere. Sneaky joker put a cut in the trace and tried to obscure with the silkscreen.

This was done twice on the PCB, in addition to goop and a handful of "dummy" components just intended to prevent tracing.

In case the trace on the PCB burns away, the resistors takes over, or the other way around.
