Are there dozens of unpopulated pads?

My guess is that the PCB was designed to build a few different variations of "signature" pedals.

There's an omitted Depth pot, possibly alternate through-hole pads for a charge pump, and optional components littered around the board.

And this is the ‘Head’ pedal. I wonder if the Munky pedal is actually different, or just a colorway.

I don't see anything Muff-like so far but I've only peeked inside long enough to snap a couple pictures.

There's some stuff on the other side of the board but I can't tell how much or what, at this point.

I'll post more pics as soon as I get a chance to pull it out of the enclosure.

I believe the octave is on the little standing module on the lefthand side. It's low in the mix but tracks really well.
