What's your current headache?

Obviously the finished unit the PCB is going into will be made in Canada and should bear that marking, but you're printing Made in Canada directly on the imported part before it's even imported.
They do have a point with that. It's just annoying that they had no problem doing this in the recent past and now they suddenly do. Who are they, legally speaking, to be the arbiter of whether the finished product is compliant with the Made in Canada requirement or not?

What if I wanted to order a roll of stickers that say Made in Canada, to apply to my legitimate MICA product, and the stickers themselves are Made in China? How would that be different?

Dude I started getting it in my mid 30s and I was in fairly decent shape, but my diet and water intake wasn't great. Cut out some foods high in purines. Not everything, but at least cut something. I switched to wine over beer and drank less. I drink a lot of water daily now . Walking and exercise at least a little once a day. And if I do drink at all or have a bbq weekend, I take a tarte cherry pill. Haven't had it in over 3 years now. That last one was enough to make changes.
I had to look "purine" up, and I think the only thing saving me from risk was my gallbladder trying to kill me a few years ago. Even now I can't do red meat but in small amounts (never could do organ meats).

Only thing I could eat at that time before surgery was a soup (more like a stew consistency) of split peas, lentils, buckwheat, and barley. Have some wheat bread with it and it's a complete protein. Season it right, and it's actually pretty palatable. Although maybe my initial love for it because basically all I could eat for months prior without pain was broth, tofu, and saltines.

The inconsistency is a good point, and I do see your point about it not really being their call if it's in your file; they're a manufacturing house, not an international regulatory body.

I think the sticker thing is a little different though because of consumer perception. If I see a sticker that says Made in Canada I'm going to assume whatever it's stuck to was made in Canada regardless of where the sticker was made. But if I see Made in Canada printed on a PCB then without any other background information I would assume the PCB was made in Canada. I recognize that on the surface it's a similar idea, but a PCB plays a much bigger role in the makeup of a product than a sticker does.

Tiny11. Windows 11 with all nonsense removed, because I don't want to buy a new laptop. It's... A challenge, but sure seems to please my limited hardware!

Just got back from the podiatrist. Didn’t think it was gout— said it would be hot and more swollen if it was. Took x rays and said there’s no signs of a fracture or arthritis, but he could feel that it was considerably stiffer than any other toes. Probably muscular, but I’ll be following up just in case

Today I walked out of petsmart, looked both ways before crossing the street, and expected a passing car to stop for a family who was crossing the street the same time I was, but he didn't. He blew right by me too but I must have rustled his jimmies because he stopped in the middle of the road and got out of the car, then walked up to me saying something how I shouldn't run into the road, and he should drop me whatever whatever. I literally looked at him and he threatened me with violence. I invited him into my office to discuss the matter and he walked over and stood atop a curb to try to tower over me (lol). I was trying to decide how far he was going to take this before I had to react in a negative manner but then some other people yelled at him to move his car out of the road and he got distracted. I informed him he was about to catch an assault charge and he ran off.

I circled the parking lot looking for his car to catch his plate but he high tailed it outta there.

Overall a fairly pleasant experience but I would have liked the closure of a police interaction as well.

As adults we have to make decisions and in the moment I felt that standing my ground and seeing how he wanted to play his hand was the best one. It's just crazy, I didn't shout at him, give him the finger, open my arms, or anything. I just stood tall and watched him disrespect a family of four. What an insecure fellow.

Many a man has tried to rationalize stupid people; I've never met one that succeeded.

And what a asshole to act like that in front of your family. Geez.

I'm in an argument with JLC. It turns out my DRC didn't flag a serious error and the gerbers went for order with a fatal mistake that renders the boards useless. JLC caught this during their electrical check and informed me. I said we could scrap the boards and I would send them a new file, of course paying for the boards, but keeping the parts and assembly fees I had already paid. They said that assembly had already been performed, so they couldn't refund the parts and assembly cost, but they can throw away the boards and refund my shipping/taxes/tariffs so I'm only out $373 instead of $625, but I really don't want to be out $373 just because my software messed up and I didn't catch it.

Their website shows the electrical check as part of the PCB fabrication process, not the assembly process, so I'm trying to fight them on it, but I'm worried it's not going to work out.

Gout is AWFUL!
I've been living with it for a couple decades now. The alopurinol 100mg every day works great for me. Colchicine works great for if you feel an attack coming on. It's expensive so I only keep for emergency but I literally only get some every five years or so. I get attacks in my big toe/knee/lower back. I'm sorry if you're one of us with the "disease of kings".
I have tart cherry juice on hand at home for it as well. It is my left big toe, hasn't bothered me for a couple years thankfully but when it does, it kills.

I got my first experience with gout at the age of 24. Docter didn't want to give me alopurinol because I was too young to be on permanent medication. 🤷‍♂️ A horrible decade followed with an attack every two months or so... It's doable when at college, as skipping classes isn't that much of a problem, but when I started working this would just not do. Probably would never have been able to keep a job if medication was being withheld from me. Got it in one toes as well (the joint being malformed due to all the attacks); impossible to wear shoes, so good luck that. Got alopurinol voor almost a decade now, and never had an attack since.

There's people who rather suffer these attacks, not wanting any medication for it. Crazy. First time I got it I thought I had broken my toe. Slamming a hammer on a finger is peanuts compared to this pain. It's as if being stabbed from the inside out. There's a sharpness to it that could maybe compare to passing kidney stones, what with both having to do with sharp crystal-forming substances settling where they shouldn't be.

Which EDA did you use?
I use Altium Designer. The built-in DRC has never let me down before, still trying to figure out what went wrong on this one. Basically I had a handful of copper pours next to each other that were assigned different nets, and it let them all short together into one giant copper pour, instead of keeping the clearance distance in the design rules.

EDIT: actually this is frustrating, it was this board here from my previous post. You can see in the top right section there are five separate copper pours. For some reason when the software redrew them it overlapped them all into one pour, shorting together all five nets.

^Wow, that really sucks...
Yep, my plan is to fight with them a little longer, then give up and say if assembly is done just ship the boards. The only issues are on the top layer of the board, so if I remove the components I should be able to modify the copper pours with a CNC machine. These are just proof-of-concept prototypes anyway, I really only need one to work then I can hash out any changes needed before the final version.

But man it sucks that this happened on the second most expensive board I've ever ordered.

Got laid off last week. 17 years of service and my department shuts down. And they move our jobs to TX. What’s worse is now I have to go through the agony of interviews for new jobs. Behavioral interviews are just grueling.
I’m so sorry Jimi. That really sucks!
