CONTEST

...to wait for @Chuck D. Bones most excellent contest to end, but I see no harm in a just a little contest right?

I've got a PREMIUM $100 PedalPCB Gift Code up for grabs. Why is it premium? Because I said so!

As always, this is open to all members so let's see some new names in the mix!

No math, apart from choosing an integer between 1-91. We'll find out who was closest on Groundhog Day.

Oh, one more thing;

If you could choose only ONE guitar pedal, which one would it be and why? Responses are not necessary but appreciated.

When I'm 64 because I've been on a Beatles kick.

Keep one pedal? It'd be an overdrive of some kind, just have to narrow it down from so many. Maybe the mach 1.

11 - Tuner, because tuner.

87,

I think my ehx h.o.g. is where some of my most "signature" or at least somewhat unique sounds come from. Been using it consistently since they released the v.1, i think 2006? However, if I'm talking about most useful as far as preforming goes, hands down it's my Radial Bassbone pre. I can plug my p bass and an upright w active piezo into the same effects and balance everything, eq, fx loop, boost, tuner out, DI, it just makes everything coexist so happily.

If we're talking diy then the ocelot. Been stepping on it with my electric upright a lot lately.

47!

And as a bass player, my go to pedal is my Sansamp VT Bass DI. Can’t live without it. I can show up to gigs that have a decent PA with just that pedal and a bass and sound like I’m playing thru a wall of ampeg stacks. Never leave home without it!!

Big box DMM. It was my first ‘effect pedal’ pedal, and I’ve been a massive analogue delay fan since. It has enough delay time for me and has modulation and a decent overdriven sound. Or a Rat I guess.

I bought a TU-2 first. Then I picked up an NS-2 because I thought that was a necessary pedal? I guess it helped while playing basement shows with a jcm800 while everyone plugged into a single power strip. Before I bought any pedals for myself, I got a DS-1 for a gift for a friend. I thought it sounded terrible (and felt pretty bad about it) while he tried it out through a solid state crate combo. That put me off dirt pedals for over a decade.

Both of those seem reasonable mods. You could rehouse the circuit if building one entirely isn’t an option.
I'm hesitant to mess with mine cuz I like it so much. They're discontinued and more expensive than I'd like, and I'm almost certain it's all stacked boards and surface mount components. Not impossible by any means but I don't feel like jacking with it
All Fanboy blathering aside, you may want to look into the El-Cap. It’ll do those 2 things and much, much more.
There are a couple other things about the obscura that I've not found in other delays. Its sample time seems really long, like it repeats a whole phrase rather than like the last note of a phrase is how I'd describe it. The tone of the repeats is really to my liking and it sits great. And it has a hold feature where it will infinitely repeat a phrase and then you can adjust the delay time to continuously warp the repeated phrase. This is the main thing I use it for and why I want to have an expression jack for delay time. Other delays I've used with an expression jack for delay time don't have as wide a range of delay times and don't respond the same. I was particularly disappointed in the Belle epoch deluxe for this very reason.

I'm not sure I'm describing this very well, and a clip might be more illustrative
