What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Yep, that's the standard method (USPS First Class), not the "economy" method (GlobalPost).

The name "First Class" gives the impression that it's a premium service of some sort, but truthfully it's the lowest tier service that USPS offers.
"Second class is when we drive the forklift over your mail. Third Class is when we build a bonfire out of it."

Priority Mail International is what you'd consider the premium service, you'll usually receive your shipment within a week or two but the cost is considerably higher. (Typically starting around $20 - 40 depending on the destination)
$55-ish to me. I mean, yes, it is a long way.

Some force sensitive resistors.

I’ve long had the idea of making a force / pressure expression pedal in a 125B (or smaller) because of how expensive wah enclosures are.

A couple of weekends ago I tried wiring up some 3 wire load cells (4 wires are more standard) but wasn’t happy with how it was working.

Basically just measuring an FSR with a microcontroller and then mapping the value onto a digital potentiometer

I really hope we get a demo of that!
I mean.. I've never posted one but I really want to see this!

Oh, look, my PedalPCB parcel did something. It's still in LA, three days later, but at least it still exists.

Arrived LOS ANGELES
Jul 9, 2022 - 12:39 pm
Status: Your item arrived at an origin transfer airport in INTERNATIONAL, LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES on July 9, 2022 at 12:39 pm. The item is currently in transit to the destination.

I guess that means it's ready to be put on a plane, so most likely it's in a hamper in the airport's warehouse awaiting its turn in the cargo queue.

This shit always makes me anxious:

Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.

That is actually based on an event that happened to me years ago... I ordered a one-off powdercoated/UV printed enclosure from PPP for a custom job, it was like $60 for one enclosure...

The shipment got to one location and just stayed there for days. PPP filed a claim, then a few days later the shipment started moving again... BACK to PPP...

Once it arrived things were a bit clearer... They got a ziplock bag with shreds of the box it used to be in, and the shipping label inside.

The enclosure was never seen again.

PPP did ship a replacement and it showed up this time.

In years of mainly shopping online for everything I have only had one package get lost in the mail - it unfortunately was a pedalpcb. I think it was an order with only one board, at least

Mail didn’t come yet before I went out today, but hopefully my sushi box PCB and enclosure will be here today! Was supposed to be Saturday but NY mail slowdowns mean it’ll be sometime in the next few days. Amazon truck came early today though and got the nylon nuts I needed for some isolated mounting stuff came. Need to reduce the length of each standoff by 1.8mm, but yeah… should be just about good to get the FV-1 dev board box all set up.
