The LOVE of receiving a rather large and extensive order from Stompbox Parts...

Radio%2BLove%2BHate%2B.gif

...offset by the HATE of UPS extortion fees. I know I complain a lot on here about shipping fees, but the truth is...

... I don't mind paying for shipping — how else am I gonna get my schtuff?!

What I take umbrage to is being overcharged for shipping, piled on with extortionist fees by a company acting as my "broker" when I didn't ask for such service and overcharging for said service.

Alas, I don't always get to choose which courier companies the parts-dealers use; my $175 order jumped to $265 (CAD$351), shipping is MORE THAN 1/3 of the total cost — that's insane, it's driving me insane. So now you may see why I try to shop only the sales, 'cause all the savings get eaten up and-then-some by $hitting $hipping fees.

I've got some more pending-arrival orders from other vendors, no idea which courier they chose; I promise I shall try to refrain from whinging further.

Yay! I got fu%^&*d stuff!

I still havent been hit with fees like that! thats robbery!
Update: Your in Canada that makes sense!

I’m very surprised LMS doesn’t have better rates negotiated. I’m sure they have enough volume, but they seem to charge pretty much standard retail.

@Feral Feline that broker business has more to do with Canada’s import laws/policies than the logistics company.

I get what you are saying... I generally stay away from DHL cause they charge gigantic fees than can sometimes double the final price. On the other hand, when I try to save a little with regular shipping, Canada Post can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to deliver and stop updating the tracking... still waiting my PedalPCB order was in Toronto a week ago.

I can feel your pain Mike, some boards I don't order unless a 2nd window has the near unobtanium IC's qued up to go at same time. I got my phase 45 board, some bread board toys(charge pump and some 9mm pot boards) and a bf-2 board that keeps reminding me on my last order I couldn't count at 4 am🤪.

My madbean impulse purchase and some presoldered j201/5457 from aion. After having only a few problems soldering my own, i had a string of failures/perhaps crappy fets so I wanted some around that weren't mangled by my inexperience just to be done with some stuff.

I liked the pedalpcb phase II enough to see what the glasshole is all about. I've never plugged in to a sansamp. Not even when I was a guitar store employee/private instructor at a different music shop. I manhandled 98%of the pedals in those shops but somehow never that one. Screenshot_20220919_163523.jpg

I got my MBP boards today too.....and won't be building any of them.....for want of MN3101 and MN3007's...sigh.
Oh wait, I can build the Audio Probe board....hahhah.

But on the GOOD news side, I just got notification from the bearded man himself that the corrected Celestial boards are in and he shipped me one!

Thanks @PedalPCB and your alter ego @Robert!

I was just wondering yesterday if you could bypass stages on the phase II like you can on the xc phase to go between 45 and 90 mode and it appears thats a feature on the glasshole, thats slick.

I was, then I returned to the "old country", almost a year ago to the day.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've got PCBs galore. Unlike Deperduci, I prefer to have those esoteric PCBs on hand, and then as the elusive parts become found/affordable I snap 'em up. I'd had a few instances where I finally decided to build something only to have the PCB no longer available and vero/perf would've been unwieldy. Like Deperduci, I cannot count at 4am, and I've been doing that for my last few orders — punch-drunk from lack of sleep stumbling around and trying to get the order right and making questionable choices.
Hey Benny! We'll soonish find out if LMS has negotiated good rates, I recently placed an order with them as well. I also realise a portion of the price I pay is related to Canada's duties/tariffs etc, but I'm not referring to the one-way street that is "free trade", I'm speaking of just the UPS shipping/broker fees 'cause I don't get dinged like that from USPS/Can-Post handoffs, and Fed-Ex hasn't been too bad. I never use DHL, and based on those other aforementioned threads I should continue to avoid it.
Meanwhile...
With some of my latest acquisitions, it's going to be a busy winter.
Went digging, not cheap(almost 3008 prices) BUT smallbear currently has some 3007's. I do it my way because it's embarrassing enough stopping half way on a board because I needed 7 instead of 4 resistors... I might miss somethign estoric but what's nice about most of these guys that design boards, they've likely found something that works just as well((MBP and Aionfx list the alternate parts, think Rob just uses the more commonly available)that works pretty close and more stock exists.
I always choose the postal options when available, the other guys half the time show up AFTER I've gone to work and just leave crap on the outer(open to the great outdoors) porch. Even if it costs me an extra $2-4 I know my stuff gets put in a locked box I can retrieve on my way to the salt mines!
Where? I didn't see any at SmallBear but AmplifiedParts.com has them.
Here they are, not many in stock though. AP is cheaper but what's the diff on shipping costs?
well what the heck, it did not come up in searches for me. A little bit cheaper here.
But either place the shipping kills you. All I need is one MN3007.
I'm torn between waiting until a need a few more bits and bobs (and risk them being OOS again) or just buying it now even though I don't intend to build that pedal for a while yet.
