Songs you thought you'd learn some day, but never did

Most Jimi Hendrix songs. When I started I wanted to wait until I was good enough to play them. Now that I am good enough to play them I don't have the dedication to learn something that takes more than 5 minutes.

There are songs that I've jammed to with friends, but never bothered to learn, like Honky Tonk Woman. Or Wagon Wheel. Because I will never play them at a gig. No judgement intended.
There are a few songs that I sing along to when I hear them on the radio, but have never bothered to learn. Like Sound of Silence. I know all the words, but I haven't sat down and given it any time.
Then there are the songs that I've tried to learn and given up on. Then returned to years later. Twenty years ago in high school, I tried to learn Spanish Caravan, by the Doors (Asturias, by Isaac Albeniz) and it never came together. I would return to it every few years, and give up again. But about 4 years ago, it came together for me. And now I do a decent enough version to play it live.
Then, there are songs like "Happy Birthday" which I should learn, because I've been asked at gigs to play it. But instead I spend my time learning about circuits and swapping transistors...etc.

Seems like I end up looking at some artist riffs after they die. When Peter Green passed away I started playing around with Oh Well and really enjoyed working through some parts of the song. Same thing with the guitar parts on Marquee Moon when Tom Verlaine passed away this year.

"Mustang Sally"

This much reviled song is said to be in many set-lists and people who've played it too many times at weddings and/or in bars etc will often say they've refused to play it. Despite its popularity with the mass-punters of gen-pop...

I've NEVER had to play it at a gig, so I never learned it. Honestly don't mind if I do have to learn it some day...
