Favorite band to see live in concert?

The Earthless guitar player was in another band called Golden Void. I saw them, and it was pretty good. They actually sing songs with verses and choruses, so it's a bit more to hook on to than Earthless's long jams.
I will check that out. I like verses and choruses AND long jams!

I saw Spectral Voice at Saint Vitus after Eroded Corridors of Unbeing came out. They had set up a bunch of candles on candelabras which the venue staff promptly extinguished, so they demanded that all the lights be turned off. They played in complete darkness, flawlessly, to a sold out room. It was the most visceral musical experience of my life

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are amazing to see. I'm lucky enough to have seen them 3-4 times and they have always been incredible. The Pixies I have seen four times - once even flew to Melbourne from Perth just to see them because they weren't coming to Perth that tour. Glad we did because that was my favourite show of theirs. They, like BRMC, are one of those rare bands with no dud songs. A Pixies show for me is a rollercoaster of emotion. Their songs are so beautiful.

The Beasts of Bourbon used to be a great live act. One of the best gigs I have ever seen was them at Metropolis in Fremantle in '93. The best line up, with Kim Salmon on guitar and Tony Pola on drums. Tex Perkins was in rare form that night. I got to jam with Tony Pola a few times and he was easily the best drummer I have ever played with.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds were a killer band. So intense. Saw them at a crazy venue - The Fremantle Passenger Terminal at the Port. Went back stage afterwards and had Bollinger in plastic cups with Blixa Bargeld. That was a head spin!

I am so lucky to have a partner who is just as into music as I am. She doesn't play an instrument but loves live music every bit as much as me and is perfectly happy to go to the dodgiest bar in town if she thinks the band will be good. We don't really have dives here any more but we used to! We used to trip over the junkies at one venue just to see a good band. And over the years we've seen some wonderful bands.

And even though his voice is going these days we were lucky to see Paul McCartney a few years ago. One of the most emotional gigs of all time. Great band, untouchable resumé.

I hate to miss Boris or Sunn O))) when they come around. Heeeaaavvvyyy! Lately I'm really into Denial Of Life, a hardcore band from Tacoma. They attract a rowdy pit, but they have this positive energy that's reminiscent of Bad Brains in the 80s.

I've seen CAKE live a few times and I always loved it. They expect a lot from the crowd. Lots of sing alongs, call and response. They always do a contest and give away a tree. It's a good time.
I've always wanted to see Cake and they played in my hometown fairly regularly when I was a teen, but it never seemed to work out and I still haven't seen them

They're another one I've always wanted to catch and the timing never worked out. Story of my life.

Muse was my favorite band for years and still holds a special place with me, I've seen them live 4 times now and they never disappoint.

Ska is one of my favorite genres to see live, and it's a toss-up between Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto for best live ska show I've seen. Aquabats and Goldfinger were also a lot of fun. Frankly hard to go wrong with a ska show.

One of the better shows I saw recently was The Hu, which was cool because I lived in Mongolia for a few years and married a native, so Mongolia is a big part of my life. Also one of the морин хуур players is my wife's distant cousin, so that's kind of neat.

I'd love to see Cake. BRMC are definitely a big fave. And Ska is fab music to experience live. So much fun! One band I would have loved to have seen is The Specials.

I forgot to mention that the first time I saw the Beasts of Bourbon my band were the support act. We were able to help ourselves to their rather generous rider because they were more interested in other stimulants. But when they came on and played they absolutely blew me away. They were a force of nature.

I saw Rage Against the Machine at Rock the Bells back in 2008. Hands down one of the best concerts I've been to, and will most likely never get to see them again. The entire lot that the festival was at was just one massive pit. It was unreal.

As far as bands that are still playing, I saw Khruangbin and My Morning Jacket (separate shows) recently and they were both incredible. I never really understood why people would follow bands around on a tour, but seeing both of those bands made me get it.

I grew up in the 90's in Orange County, CA. I wasn't really into ska but my best friend in jr. high and hs was and I went to a lot of shows with him since many of them were free (and all ages) at coffee shops. I saw a lot of bands like Aquabats, Grover's Headache, RX Bandits, Save Ferris (my best friends cousin was their drummer for a while early on), Goldfinger. I want to say I saw RBF but I don't remember for sure but they are one of the ska bands I do like.

Best ska act I ever saw was Hepcat opening for Rancid in the late 90s. Strange but awesome billing. I'm not much for dancing but I couldn't help but get down. I was a big Operation Ivy fan in my early teen years so seeing Lint and Matt Freeman was a bucket list item.

Experiences? Mahavishnu Orchestra played at my local high school with their original lineup. Jazz metal, LAF.

Saw Charlie Mingus play a tiny club in Boston unamplified and tell the audience to sit down and shut up, or else.

Sun Ra gave me a stern scowl when I fell out of my seat laughing, about eight feet away from him. Then he decided it was cool and gave a little nod.

Went to see a show my friend was tech director for, couldn’t find him anywhere, but Jack Bruce walked up and chatted me up for a while and tried my bass that I had with me. He wasn’t billed but was part of the opening act.

Reverse scalped a ticket to see a show on Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust tour, five bucks got me in.

When I was in college Aerosmith used to play out on the sidewalk in front of the student union building pretty regularly, ca. 1971. Sounded exactly like Aerosmith, go figure.

I was lucky enough to see hundreds of killer rock and jazz shows all through the seventies and eighties; one big favorite was/is Pat Metheny, who I’ve never seen do a bad show. Other favorite shows were Jaco with Joni Mitchell, Duane Allman with Delaney and Bonnie, Ornette Coleman’s crazy mid-80s double trio, Pink Floyd doing Dark Side when it was still called Eclipse, that Sun Ra show in NYC with about a dozen sax players sitting in, Mountain at Fillmore East on NYE 1970, Faces with Ronnie Wood, Jeff Beck on the Wired tour at a country club venue, and King Crimson on the Lark’s Tongue, Discipline, and Beat tours, all three from fifth row or closer. Then there’s the DeadHead/jam band stuff I used to be into, what I can vaguely remember of that time…

Haven’t done an arena or stadium show in eons, it’s mostly smaller clubs or nothing for me in my geezer phase.
This is the coolest stuff! You mentioned a lot of my favorite artists, from jazz to rock…
