CONTEST
I'm taking an online songwriting workshop. You deliver one recorded song every 2 weeks, and get feedback from the other 7 people in the group.

I always wait til Sunday—the day the song is due—to begin recording. It's mentally exhausting. I've learning to appreciate that songwriting is hard work, at least for me.

That sounds fantastic. I'd love to do something like that.

Songwriting is hard for everyone, it just depends how much work you put in and the more you do it the better you get.

Out of the tracks I'm working on at the minute, two of them literally fell out of my guitar in 10 minutes each and the others I've been working on for months now.

I’m just doing the same task I do every month or so – build up a super large Tayda cart to replenish supplies or fill in parts gaps to prepare to build the PCBs I bought in the most recent sale. Heading to London soon for a couple of weeks and the PPCB boards I ordered during the Labor Day sale haven’t even shipped yet, so I probably won’t pull the trigger on the Tayda shopping cart until I come back, so it doesn’t just hang out on my front porch for a week or two. Of course, by then, I will have scoped out some additional projects and need to balloon that cart up even further.

10 - your day was...
Yesterday and today - working an ecommerce site to track all this VFE nonsense. Started trying to roll my own but its a bit of work. I think I found a decent open source possibility (well this will be possibility #3, #1 and #2 were not quite right in the end). Fingers crossed. Hoping to load all the boards as claimed already and then have the ability to add chips and soldering service as applicable. Almost make this stuff legit.

We attended a 7 year olds party today. Kind of cool my wife has been great friends with the dads sister since they were in kindergarten and I taught the dad his first pentatonic scale nearly 30 years ago. We both had our first sons 2 weeks a part. And he’s now a far better guitar player than me (but don’t ever tell him I said that.). Anyways we got Easton a little science experiment kit Jameson was pretty excited to get it for him as he loves his. Now troy gets the fun of buying excessive amounts of baking soda and citric acid. :).

Semester is already pretty busy. Did a papermaking workshop yesterday as part of my experimental printmaking class. Here’s a little sample of some of the paper I made. View attachment 56179

My litho class is definitely going to be a ton of work— I need to get my first stone ground/polished, so I’ll probably go in to school around 6am tomorrow so I can grind the stone a bit before class.
Fig can help you with your stone.
Almost said polish your stones.
He's got an already long forgotten rock tumbler in the workshop just collecting dust.

...so here we are. Man, that was easy. :ROFLMAO:

I've got a $50 Sweetwater card to kick off the thread. I know...Labor Day sale ended...but that's Fig for you.

Speaking of easy...things are much too complicated in this world, so in honor of simplicity ( simple is my middle name ), I'll grab a random-type post # on Tues.

We attended an eight-year old's birthday party today. I got to play with some cool toys...my wife says I fit right in. We got him a rock tumbler. Cool gift but about as fun as a monogrammed fork....so we also got him a Lego megladon!

What's Happening with y'all?
Ah yes, I remember playing with my rock tumbler. Well, no, actually I just watched Dad fill them up and turn them on. I started cutting cabochons and making jewelry when I was 11 back in 1967. Same year I got a motorcycle, a rifle, and a guitar. It was a busy year......

Built my son's first PC yesterday, it was meant to be a cheapish build, ended up being 700€ 🥲
At least now he has a very good PC and we had fun building it
Of course now his little sister wants one as well
Sooner or later I'll find the time to finish troubleshooting my Chop Shop, it's sitting there on my desk looking at me with sad eyes for already a couple of weeks

Hi Fig. Glad to hear you went with legos, always a winner gift in my experience.

Change was in the air this weekend at our house. My daughter joined the field hockey team so we went to the sporting goods store and got all the required gear. Fired up the soldering iron for the first time in a while and started several new builds. Discovered a mouse was getting into our basement via a hole in our garage, cleaned out the entire garage and fixed the hole, in the process found a couple Fig branded picks that had fallen behind my workbench. Wrapped up refinishing our deck, looks new again. The new job is finally becoming familiar and more manageable, and a side note to all you guys that do wood work - make sure you handle your staining rags properly we had a resident lose their home on Friday, completely totaled by fire due to rags self combusting. The air is cooling down and it’s starting to feel like fall is almost here. Not sure how these years go so damn fast but they do. New builds I should have done soon: Earth Drive (thanks to Michael W’s review), super 64, glory hole, gravitation (thanks to Michale W’s review) and a Griffin effects Ricochet (SurfyBear clone) I picked up two boards so as long as I don’t booger up the first board I’ll be offering the extra one up as a freebie to anyone interested. Excited to have solder smoke in the air again. Also glad to hear about everyone’s adventures. Enjoy.

Another work trip combined with a large backlog of work related activities. My pedal building is taking a back-seat, and to top it all off, my JTM45 head just told me no and made a funny noise. It seems that once I do have spare time, I will be learning how to troubleshoot a valve amp.

On the plus side, I have an awesome pedal backlog..
