My way of saying thanks to the BEST DIY group this side of Andromeda, and to some of the groovy vendors who tempt us with their tantalizing tantalums, and irresistible diodes (hah...gotcha).

5 random posts between now and Dec 25 will be chosen.... The working topic is;

Upcoming projects you are excited about

Well I hate to be #1 but, I recently acquired a fender super champ x2 head with a bad preamp board. My understanding this can be bypassed and can use as a tube power amp. But I think I’m going to gut it and see what I can make for an amp with the pt/ot chassis and head cab it’s at my brothers still though so need to drive the hour to go get it. Will be my January start project.

Well, I've just finished my most exciting project tonight. Only remaining a few muff variants, a llama and prunes and custard. Missing a few parts on every build of course. Oh, I now have a breadboard and can't wait to try a few things :)

The new fuzz (started out as a bass fuzz) that I've been designing. It seems to work well for guitar, as well. Still doing a couple more tweaks. One bonehead mistake on the schematic which translated to the board but with a little coercion I got it to fire up. I guessed on a few values but I think that I guessed right.

The project I am most excited about is something I am calling the Germaniac! Like many builders, I started out on Fuzz Faces and Rangemasters, and got into Ge really quickly. Turns out I love the sound, and how it works with my ancient tube amp. The Germaniac is going to be three things inside a 1590XX enclosure, kindof like a Hoof Reaper but better:

Ge Fuzz Face
Ge Rangemaster with selectable 1N60 clipping diodes, because why not
Ge Green Ringer, probably using some old low-gain Matushita transistors in a Darlington pair for the PNP

The whole reason I started building FX pedals was to experience expensive, old sounds I could never afford. Once I acquired the taste, I got the idea to make my ultimate vintage drive section in a single pedal. Anyone here do vector art for hire? I have many ideas, but I can't draw.

If you meant PPCB upcoming projects, I am interested in whatever is happening with the power amp module!

I’m excited to start integrating circuits into my guitar builds, like a preamp running on a 9v. I think it will add that extra dimension that I’ve been wanting.

And not to be too personal, but also looking forward to the daunting project of fostering my nephew and niece, hoping to give them a better life!
