What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Decided to do some "boring housekeeping" and made a list of all the transistors and op amps I need for my backlog of PCB's and ordered all the stuff from Banzai music that I can't get from Tayda. So basically I spent a bunch of money on parts I don't need yet. Not sure if it was a smart move or not, but I am planning on building all of them eventually.

Heck yes it was. I would have doubled it, if it wasn’t going to cost too much. It’s always good to have spare parts on hand.
But I'm also lazy so I don't like doing inventory of what I already have, so I usually just order stuff to fit the PCB's, and then I have a bunch of extra parts floating around I'm never using.

I think after I finish these two I have enclosures for I think I could at least do an inventory of my pots and just not order extras for once. I think it's fine to have some stock of more rare parts and semiconductors especially (plus for stuff like resistors they're so cheap and pretty easy to store so why not), but for pots it's mostly just embarrassing.

Sometimes I like to make an unplanned build. For example, sometimes I just decide to etch something or build on vero for no good reason. 😁

Same. I like having stuff on hand for when I come across a Vero layout I wanna build. Still haven’t gone down the etching route but I will eventually. But it’s nice having most of the stuff on hand to build random shit

100% I've got loads of parts which would cost me way more to buy now than I originally spent on them. Some of them I wouldn't even consider buying at today's prices.

Or if I see a particularly good demo of a pedal and realise I need that in my life. If I wait to order a pcb and parts then the mood might pass so it's better to do it when you're in the right frame of mind.

I've got parts that are a few years old for projects I planned to do years before that.

Well, guess what?

Some of those parts are now unobtanium on the market, but I've just enough to finish my projects, when I eventually get to them — and I WILL get to them, because more than I'm lazy, I'm stubborn.

I only wish I had the loads of parts from the past that SillyOctpuss has — but who knew how far this Rabbit Hole went/goes? I didn't, not at the time. Not now. Maybe not ever.

I should've bought more while I could, well, if only I'd had the cash, I would've could've should've.

Most of the parts I'm talking about were ordered from the US or from diy guitar pedals in Australia. When I was starting out I ordered much more than I needed so I'd have enough to keep me going for a long time. There's lots of diodes and jfets that cost me 10c each but are being sold for $1.50 now.

Man.....Sweetwater is a just the tops. I was "stalked" by a sales rep after I selected to be notified on a backordered Baritone. Stayed in contact with him the last 2 months, he messaged me Wednesday saying he had one in stock......and it's getting delivered today already. Their website still says "backordered". Beyond stoked.

Going to a trap shooting course with my brother in-law and coming home to NGD.

The only crappy picture I took......spent more time playing it by ignoring the "wait 24hrs label" on the box. Whoops.

Better than I imagined. Did some recording yesterday and it sounds heavenly with reverb. The reverb tone this thing makes is better than any of the 13 other guitars I have. Super happy/impressed. The push/pull coil split was an awesome addition to this baritone. Won't be playing any of my other guitars for a long time. All the reviews were 100% spot on, Baritones make you play completely different and has opened up a whole new realm of guitar creativity for me.

What's not in my mailbox... my mouser canada order that has been out for delivery yesterday, somewhere in louisiana ...
I've only ordered from Mouser when in HK, no duties or anything.

When you order from Mouser Canada website, it still ships from the US and with all the duties and custom fees that entails?

I don't think I've ever been hit by duties on those, and normally shipping was fast... like faster than my ppcb/aion orders. I generally take the 8$ option.
