Sometimes a file is the right tool for the job, and I just deal with the aftermath. Coarse files are a little easier to clean than very fine ones. For scraping paint, I’d definitely prefer your knife method.

I bought a very cheap round file from the hardware store years ago and I have used it multiple times to fix my drilling mistakes. Never had a problem with it.

This 414 mkii got a new counter belt, FF/RW reel belt, a little lube, and I removed what looked like rat shit from inside the case. I'll clean the pots and faders, wash the case and knobs, and reassemble. Audio worked on all 4 channels when I received it, and play worked. I'll test the record function and all the routing, then it'll go up for sale

I've been working on some octave down designs using the CD4013 and every single one of them has had a major problem. It's frustrating as hell. Each issue is unique and I haven't been able to solve any of them!

Can't help but wonder if maybe the CMOS chip is confusing the audio signal with 'switch-bouncing'. (???)

Probably the last tractor update I'll bother y'all with (and mainly for @Erik S) I put the motor back in and it started right up. I need to adjust a few things and replace the fuel line still but it runs, drives, and cuts

Mixer is finally done. Sounds great. I tested all the capacitors and ended up replacing any of them that were way out from their called out value or had a high dissipation factor. It ended up being most of the electrolytics except some of the Elnas which were better than anything I had and all the ceramics with MLCC or film. I also replaced all the jacks, cleaned and lubed all the pots and sliders.
