That’s a large ass truss rod cover. You might want to replace that chewed up screw, though. If that breaks off, you’re gonna be pissed!View attachment 86697
Excited to try gold foil pickups. Might not match the humbucker the the bridge, but it'll find a home. Also carved a truss rod cover out of salvaged bass neck rosewood for my homemade V.

You know the b-plug is prehistorical right?Which came first?
The b*tt pl*g or the V headstock design?
… how much of an effect did the buffer have for you? For me it gives a big boost to gain, which I do like, but from a quick look at a demo it doesn't seem accurate to the original. I wonder if I maybe have a cold solder joint somewhere or if it's because I used 2N2222A's for Q1 and Q4? I couldn't find BC182's easily. I'll test some more, check if wiggling the switch makes a difference and maybe try some other transistors (2N5089? I think I read someone suggest that somewhere).
…
Aren't 182s ECB? Get your 2222s to line dance?Boxed up the Sandblaster fuzz, had some issues first with the jacks shorting out, but a quick rotate fixed that.
It works fine, what I'm curious about from others who have built it, how much of an effect did the buffer have for you? I might also have different gain levels, not 100% sure, and of course that's tricky to check against demos because I don't know for sure how their amps are set up. But I do get a nice range of clean-to-fuzzy, although that's with the buffer switch set to the higher gain position (which one is on, btw? I think I can probably figure it out by measuring it, but if someone knows off-hand...).
Good call! Or they're EBC actually, according to the TC1. Should have checked myself, I was looking at https://www.onsemi.com/pdf/datasheet/p2n2222a-d.pdf which says they're CBE, but it's actually for the P2N2222A (it came up in a search and I didn't realize I should check what datasheet it actually was), which apparently is different. That might just be it.Aren't 182s ECB? Get your 2222s to line dance?

Shit picture because there's shit light, but thanks to @jwin615 pointing out the transistor pinout (I just had to flip them around) it now works as it should and the buffer makes only a very small difference. It might still have a little gain difference between on/off even though I ran it after the Clandestine preamp (but there's like 7 other true bypass pedals in between them so it might actually make a difference even if it's very transparent?).
I also did not account for where the buffer switch ended up being located, although it's mostly just mildly amusing.
Okay, GarrusReady for calibration!
Had to look that one up… my game knowledge is pretty weak for stuff from this century.Okay, Garrus![]()
You’ve been holding out on us! It’s been boring pedal crap around here as far as the eye can see. There’s been a steady stream of stuff on my “workbench” over the summer and fall — little related to pedals
