What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

… how much of an effect did the buffer have for you? For me it gives a big boost to gain, which I do like, but from a quick look at a demo it doesn't seem accurate to the original. I wonder if I maybe have a cold solder joint somewhere or if it's because I used 2N2222A's for Q1 and Q4? I couldn't find BC182's easily. I'll test some more, check if wiggling the switch makes a difference and maybe try some other transistors (2N5089? I think I read someone suggest that somewhere).

If I’m not mistaken, the 2N2222 has lower gain than the BC or 89 (still don’t have computer back from repair shop or I could say for certain — too lazy to check on all the hFE from my phone.)

Boxed up the Sandblaster fuzz, had some issues first with the jacks shorting out, but a quick rotate fixed that.

It works fine, what I'm curious about from others who have built it, how much of an effect did the buffer have for you? I might also have different gain levels, not 100% sure, and of course that's tricky to check against demos because I don't know for sure how their amps are set up. But I do get a nice range of clean-to-fuzzy, although that's with the buffer switch set to the higher gain position (which one is on, btw? I think I can probably figure it out by measuring it, but if someone knows off-hand...).
Aren't 182s ECB? Get your 2222s to line dance?

Good call! Or they're EBC actually, according to the TC1. Should have checked myself, I was looking at https://www.onsemi.com/pdf/datasheet/p2n2222a-d.pdf which says they're CBE, but it's actually for the P2N2222A (it came up in a search and I didn't realize I should check what datasheet it actually was), which apparently is different. That might just be it.

Shit picture because there's shit light, but thanks to @jwin615 pointing out the transistor pinout (I just had to flip them around) it now works as it should and the buffer makes only a very small difference. It might still have a little gain difference between on/off even though I ran it after the Clandestine preamp (but there's like 7 other true bypass pedals in between them so it might actually make a difference even if it's very transparent?).

I also did not account for where the buffer switch ended up being located, although it's mostly just mildly amusing.

You know, @Fama , consciouss or subconscious, no male artist will pass on a penis reference in his work when the time comes.

Especially public art.

My town has this for a while now. That it has been created by a male is self evident.

There’s been a steady stream of stuff on my “workbench” over the summer and fall — little related to pedals — such as the pile of gravel that was in my driveway …

( half-gone here already)
… that’s now under the back deck, hauled from front to back and wriggling underneath with it, two 5-gallon pales (UK-imperial REAL gallons) at a time, finished in October just before the snow flew:

(Sasha inspecting my work and NOT impressed — just barely started here)

Didn’t want to bore you all with such trivial projects & pics, or worse the myriad car projects over the summer …

No sirree — I’ve saved you from all those inconsequential postings.

Instead, I bring to this thread only truly important “Workbench Material” of the highest order.

Behold!

You’ve been holding out on us! It’s been boring pedal crap around here as far as the eye can see.

I did a very similar gravel job in the fall. I was very excited to make it through that without any significant back problems.
